  1. Wouldn't surprise me. And if Dennis is the backup, I would assume another 5 goal night is needed to secure victory. Marty's funny that way. TOO funny.
  2. I was one of the people who thought Miller should've been yanked against Toronto, but not becuase he was having a bad game. It's quite simply a way of saying to the team, "ok, since you won't play for this guy, let's see if you'll play for this guy". In other words, you send a message to the team, not the goalie. However I have never, and never will appreciate Marty for his goaltending, as he is simply not good enough and never will be. I am tired of people telling me how many games he wins. Marty doesn't win these games, the team wins these games for him - not the other way around. Games are not won because of Marty, but in spite of him. I'm not expecting him to steal games. It's Marty for Christ sakes. However, I do expect him to make simple saves, I do expect him not to assist on opposition goals, and most important of all - I expect him to learn from his mistakes. He does neither, and he makes 2 mill. a year to boot.
  3. This is what's always puzzled me about Biron - Once he knows he's going to start, his focus seems to drop. Back in the day, if Mika had a good start or two, Marty would come roaring back with some great games and as soon as he was set in goal again, his performance level would drop dramatically. Now, I know Marty is nowhere near the starting job as it is, but with Miller injured he knows he'll be getting the starts, and I think this may be the problem. I don't know what to call it? Complacency?
  4. Marty currently has a GAA of 3.30 and a SV% of .886. That's Bob Essensa numbers  I know stats only tell half the story and some will point out that he saved the game against The Cryers on a 3 on 0 Break. True, he did. But he wouldn't have had to if he hadn't been his usual sieve-self on Umberger's WEAK wrister from the blue line. Fact is Marty puts teams in trouble, when all that is needed from him is to hold the fort. Nobody is asking him to be spectacular. Sorry, there is no way this guy starts for anyone in this league, and it's another season with 2 mill. down the tube for a backup on a team that is currently cap strained.
  5. At any rate, nights like this could easily end up being a blessing in disguise. I wouldn't want this team going into any playoff situation thinking they didn't have to give 100% in order to win.
  6. You don't stop the second or third, but the third doesn't happen if he knew how to handle the puck. The Sens put us under pressure because he tries to clear it off the boards, when all he had to do was tap it to a wide open d-man 8 feet behind him.
  7. I certainly agree, the effort wasn't there and the PK and PP were awful. But as it stands right now, I think the offense may have earned the "right" to have a bad night once in a while. As for Biron, I'm just pointing out that he's exactly the same goalie he was when we were a losing team, and that it's bugging me. Yes, he wins more games, but it's not because he's playing better. I'll leave it at this, if he's bound to have bad nights, let it be now when it doesn't really matter.
  8. I agree, but the third one never happens if he doesn't make a weak clearing attempt off the boards, right to a Senator winger.
  9. I don't think I want him to steal games, but rather give his team a fighting chance when they're not banging in 5+ goals a night. He doesn't.
  10. I hear ya, but the fact remains is that he's asleep on the first one, and makes a patented "Biron Assist" on the third one, by putting the puck off the boards instead of tapping it to the guy standing right behind him in acres of space. The offense is bound to have nights off, just as well as the goalie is. Biron had the night off against Philly and Carolina, so the way I figure, it was his turn to show up.
  11. Can't wait for Miller to return. Biron once again shows why he is NOT the no. 1. Give him too many games, and he returns to his shaky ways. Same old softies, same old misplays. Hasn't learned a thing in 6+ seasons. Only difference is his team couldn't score 5 for him tonight.
  12. Not tonight, or the last three nights.
  13. Maybe, but I've been sick of his softies and misplays for years.
  14. Soon I hope! Fact remains that Biron is nothing but a backup, give him too many games and get him comfortable in net - this is what you get.
  15. I'm suddenly starting to remember why I dislike Biron so much.
  16. And this goal starts because Biron CAN'T HANDLE THE F'ING PUCK PROPERLY!!! Saves on breakaways or not, he's losing this game atm with this misplay and the softie in the first.
  17. Our PP sucks tonight.
  18. Well they WERE, but they didn't score their usual 3+ goals in that stretch.
  19. That's what happens when you let a team hang around. Playing sloppy now.
  20. Well, he wasn't limping in any way walking down the tunnel, so I doubt it's his legs?
  21. Damn, Drury off to the dressing room....
  22. Yeah, but a little too much Ottawa and too little Buffalo.
  23. And a very nice call on that, nice assist.
  24. Getting outhustled now.
