  1. In the Eastern conference, it is four (two and two) in the division, three (two and one, unbalanced) in the conference, and two (one and one) against the Western conference. Only 28 of the Sabres' 82 games are against so-called division "rivals," which is probably why the NHL felt the need to ***** around with the playoff system again.
  2. That's why. And their exposure on national TV during some of the dark years didn't help them emerge from Mickey Mouse territory anyway.
  3. Comcast isn't just based there. It owns the team.
  4. The Sabres are only on the various NBC Networks 6 times: http://nbcsportsgrouppressbox.com/2019/08/06/nbc-sports-to-air-109-games-during-2019-20-nhl-regular-season/amp/?__twitter_impression=true
  5. Well, you'd better make the decision quickly, because they play each other Friday.
  6. Do it during camp and preseason first.
  7. My main concern is that Dahlin won't want to give us eight years.
  8. I LOVE THIS DEAL!!!!!
  9. We can laugh now, but when it's Dahlin's turn...
  10. I think it's going to begin with a 3.
  11. MODO, if you're coming in the night before, maybe we can meet up for a drink?
  12. His cap hit counts either way, right? And yes, the second point, shrader and I discussed upthread.
  13. It's only one possible unfortunate outcome, and even Pegula can't buy everything he wants in the world. Another: What if this came in at 800 or 900 or even 950K? They are strapped as much as possible with respect to the cap right now. So much so that people in another thread are suggesting that they mortgage the future by exercising buyouts now.
  14. Because it means he makes more money in Rochester. I do want to see the players grow there. (I don't think Elie is capable of much growth, though.) I just don't care about the team winning Calder Cups, etc. I certainly realize that a more successful team leads to a more positive experience for the players who ultimately will matter. Forgot that part; thanks.
  15. Eww.
  16. I usually love these but I am puzzled by the "racist QB" part. What's that about?
  17. Don't know. Maybe it would have been a one-way deal. Maybe it would have been two years. The risk was there. I know, it's blasphemy. I'm sorry.
  18. Qualifying him risked an unfavorable arbitration award. I know this will be unpopular among those who live in Rochester, but I don't really care much about the success of the Amerks.
  19. It wouldn't have been a situation had Botterill not extended the qualifying offer to begin with. Glad this one's over; let's see what happens with the younger of the two backup goalies.
  20. Absolutely.
  21. No buyouts. I don't want dead cap money on the books next year when they have to negotiate with Reinhart and Dahlin.
  22. I don't remember. It may have just been "Eleven."
  23. That sounds fantastic.
