She hasn't been in the workforce long enough to have heard that one too many times. And where was that when I was a cashier? Don't remember hearing it. I think I just got a cranky one.

It doesn't sit well with a lot of people. I mean, the table thing is amusing and all if I'm watching it online, but I don't want or need to be around that level of wasted and never did.

I think that's different, though. That's a nature-oriented trip and I think it's great.

Oh. ? I guess if I didn't want to interact with anyone, I'd just go to a seminary or something.

This is not an unreasonable viewpoint. I like bars. It's a way to let loose, talk a bit, watch a game a bit, and--to me, most importantly--observe. Bars are just so full of life. There have been nights where I've nursed two drinks for four hours just to watch it all. (When I was younger, or, more recently, when @Weave and I went for a bourbon session, I may have been the watched, rather than the watcher.) One of my favorite things on a weekend is to solve the NYT puzzle while having a drink or two. One of my other favorite things is to have a drink or two and observe obnoxious Bills fans. Hunting season almost is open! But nothing is for everybody, and if it isn't for you, hey. Good.

I've been on one. It was in March, and there will not be another. They are SOOOOOO wasteful. One night, I asked for a container for the half of my dinner that I couldn't finish, and they offered me another dinner. No, I want a container for the rest of the food that is in front of me. Now, a manager appears. Wants to know what's wrong with my dinner. Nothing is wrong; it's delicious. I just want to put the rest in my cabin fridge (the existence of that also is wasteful). He tells me they will make me another dinner! No. I want the rest of this good food, wrapped up or something, so I can put it in my fridge. I am asked why. I say it's because it's good food, I'll eat it later, and that it would be wasteful otherwise. The manager? "Do you know how much food we waste every day?" Me: "I couldn't guess, but I'd prefer not to contribute." I got my container, which thankfully was steel and porcelain--not plastic. My sister was mortified, my niece admired my efforts, and my mom and dad were proud of my resolve. So that's a 100% on the reaction scale. Well, maybe 90%. It would have been better had my sister stormed off. Not to mention the 60-ish folks with the drink packages. Oh boy. Leathery? Check. Drunk as *****? Check. Annoying and condescending because I'm only in my mid-forties? Check. Lanyards with Gold Cruise Status (that's a Thing, apparently). And slot machines! And fake Peter Max art! It's a boomer paradise. (No offense to the couple of boomers on here who are good folks.) All in all, it was a nice family vacation. Niece and nephew had fun, and I got to share that with them, and that's the point. We snorkeled, we went through a nature-protected area, my nephew tried a climbing wall (failed; he was only eight years old though), and stuff. My favorite moment was when my sis had a meltdown the day before we ported, and I got to take the two of them on a scavenger hunt so she could calm down. (I wanted to do that anyway. Love those two squirts.). I'll never forget it; it was a nice vacation. But I'll stay on terra firma for vacations from now on. Cruises are just, ugh. Nope and nope and nope.

Just drove a friend, who is a little tipsy, to a C-store for tobacco. He was asked for ID. He's 30. I said "Hey, _______, you're still using your older brother's ID?" We chuckled. The 21-ish-year-old cashier had a conniption and lectured me. Is this what we have become? Granted, I'm in the suburbs right now, and not in Buffalo, where that would have passed without a blink.

Both of them are just so obsolete. Get rid of them.

He's tall for a Patriots lineman. Doesn't Brady prefer them all to be 6'2" or shorter?
-
There's no reason to hate to say it. He's awful and always has been. No one is skilled at everything.

It's Ohio. Every highway is backed up because if the speed limit is 65, the left lane is going at 65.1. It's just the way that state is. Why they had to put it in between more worthwhile places is beyond me.

Greatest comeback in NFL preseason history! I've said it before, and I'll say it again: With Tyree Jackson, and against a bunch of guys who will be spending their autumns finishing their kinesthesiology degrees, this team can do anything.

Weave: Sux. Sorry. Dogs are great friends.

Yeah, but he signed with Toronto.

How, exactly, does one get a fever in August in the Northern freaking Hemisphere? This is ridiculous.

This is what happens when the generation of children raised by helicopter parents become young adults.

I can't seem to find these tweets.

No. You've got a nice set of four defensemen there. One of the others should be a guy who is able to put lumber in the back of whomever is screening or otherwise disturbing a goaltender. Winning teams have that guy, or, more likely, two of them.

Looked more like Nottingham or Middlesex near Delaware park, to me. S'pose it could be East Amherst? Don't really know.

And there's the scary part. They need McCabe and one of Bogosian or Ristolainen.

Has Connor McDavid lost his love for the game?
Eleven replied to Cascade Youth's topic in The Aud Club
Yeah, if you're considering them as tandems. But Smith is better than either of the Sabres' two. -
On top of that, there's all that room under the skyway which is NOTHING BUT PARKING. I think it's time to leave sizzle to his own thoughts.

Never showed up in my feed. I'll search.

Goalies. Our goalies suck. Mike Smith is no Vezina winner, and also shares his name with the actor who plays Bubbles (and probably many others), but he's better than what we have.
