  1. So I can't really have too much caffeine (this will surprise no one, I'm sure) and I've been looking for a winter beverage for a long time. I've found it. Chicory. Not coffee with chicory added (that would have caffeine), just brewed chicory. It is fantastic.
  2. 6 out of 10? (Language NSFW...)
  3. See, now THAT's a meme.
  4. Send him to Aud Smell. I'm on sabbatical.
  5. You mean you lied to me that night?
  6. Even if that much text explained it---AND IT DOESN'T--that would indicate why the shitpost in question is poor communication rather than some apt meme.
  7. Yeah, you nailed it. I get the angry women on the left; I have no idea what the cat on the right is supposed to represent. It's just a cat. And all cats are *****; is the message that Botterill is *****?
  8. I'm not sure that's right (but I'm also not sure that's wrong). There have been players who insisted they were healthy, but the team insisted they weren't. LaFontaine comes to mind IIRC. (I know, that's forever ago, and probably not relevant to the current rules.)
  9. Are they heated at New Era? I'm not sure they are.
  10. Then we have to get together soon, because I'm spending an awful lot of time in EA these days.
  11. Attending.
  12. My flights to/from Europe in 2018 did not have meals. Granted, out of YYZ (and back), each flight was only five hours, but I would think that is a sufficiently long flight that they would serve something.
  13. I did. They still have their political views, of course, but they tend not to be beholden to the president who appointed them. Any conservative is going to be against DACA. But I also think that any conservative is going to guard against the expansion of presidential power---no matter who the president is. And yes, that is what McConnell did and shame on the Democrats for putting in the mechanism that let him get away with it. Short-sighted thinking.
  14. And I've screwed it up--It's Bar Bill and not Bill Bar, isn't it? Sorry. That's what they get for not ever having enough room for me!
  15. 1. WAS excellent. I'm not being a jerk here. I love the Gate. (It's "the Gate," and not "Gabriel's," and has been since I was a teenager.) It was a second home during a certain period of my life. But the quality is way way off. 2. I believe that Bill Bar either opened last weekend or is opening this weekend in Clarence. As above, if the wait times in EA are any indication, the wings must be amazing.
  16. I have a Tuesday night class now which basically is sucking my will to live.
  17. Freejame! Nevermind jame; free yourself from your bonds! Embrace Seinfeld!
  18. Whoa. What's going on there? Is DeLuca ok?
  19. Since we're on wings, for whatever reason (I suppose they are gluten free), I'll give a shoutout to Thirsty Buffalo on Elmwood. The wings are pretty great. I have yet to try Bar Bill, mostly because every time I go, it's an hour wait for a table, and possibly longer for a bar spot. But that hour wait must be for a reason, right?
  20. I wouldn't bet against you. I think a few things have changed there.
  21. See the eating/drinking thread. They don't overcook them anymore, for sure.
  22. BWAHAHAHAHAAA Can you imagine if he were in a position where he had to praise Russian players? HC Dynamo Moscow‏Verified account @dynamo_ru FollowFollow @dynamo_ru More Hey, Don Cherry @CoachsCornerDC. We heard that you were fired. It’s not good! Come to Russia, we need an analyst for Dynamo TV who could talk whatever he thinks. We love old soldiers. And we will make a nice suit! We hope you agree. #WeAreDynamo
  23. Yes, but everything reaches its critical mass, and nothing reaches it until it's actually reached. I guess in this case, it was finally too many slipcovers for the sofa.
  24. I don't think it's much of a thing there. I dated an ethnically Ukranian (Russian by birth) gal for quite a while. No one in her family was into hockey at all. Soccer, on the other hand, was huge. This isn't unfair in spirit. They should have gotten rid of him quite a while ago. But I disagree that he's been the same for 40 years. I see a progression--again, starting with French Canadians, then European players, and then into a general rage about everything that isn't the Same As It Was Back In The Day.
  25. Sure sounds like something I would have said. Politics certainly creeps its way into things, especially when people choose to make things about politics. (I didn't, here.) However, this isn't inherently about politics. It's about one person who has turned an in-between period segment from something that used to be sorta funny into a bully pulpit on all sorts of issues, many of which aren't political at all. (Tell me how Don Cherry's outdated views on enforcers (see my link above) are political, for example.) People are sick of Don Cherry's infectious presence in their hockey broadcasts. In my case, and I suspect the cases of others, too, I got sick of his self-aggrandizement (how insecure must one be to wear those suits!) a long time ago. He's gone and HNiC is better for it.
