I'm pretty sure that's how you looked at the last meetup game.

LOTS of interesting stuff this offseason. I'm not thrilled with what they gave up for Diggs, especially (but not entirely) considering what Hopkins fetched, but this team is trying. I can only hope for the day when the Sabres get a competent GM.

Just RB2, no? Didn't they pick up a DB a week or two ago?
-
Did you do anything about it? It's brazenly political. And, frankly, dangerous. I'm not.
-
That doesn't need to happen. No one needs to be as rich as Jeff Bezos, on the other hand.
-
So, you all want to meet up anyway? Like at a restaurant or something? Oh...

It's kind of one and the same. The system has been abused to the point where it no longer is what was intended, so it needs to be regulated. Agreed on your point about the patents.

I don't remember that particular Far Side comic, but I had a fun experience in Rite Aid yesterday trying to buy a bottle of hand soap. You know, the kind with a pump that sits next to your bathroom sink. I'm not stocking up; I simply was out of soap, so time to get another bottle. The clerk informed me that they were out of soap. I gave her a strange look I guess, and said, ok, I'll just use my shower soap to wash my hands. At which point she clarified: They had soap, just not the antibacterial kind. Regular hand soap was available, but people had hoarded the antibacterial soap. This ties back to your point about common sense. Antibacterial soap is designed to kill BACTERIA NOT VIRUSES!

Is there a silver lining--a corona, if you will--to the Wuhan virus? We're all aware of arena workers who now will be compensated somehow for their loss of income, and of course there was an anticipatory and factually unsupported backlash at the Pegulas for failing to announce a plan the second the NHL suspended the season. What of other workers? Plenty of other occupations have been suspended entirely or have had hours reduced. In many cases, the market cap of the employer is in the billions of dollars. These people are not going to be able to make ends meet easily. Will this finally be the time when we realize that capitalism has gone too far and that the common good requires a more equitable distribution of resources?

I just hope that Winston doesn't get too crabby about the news.
-
No; that seems like a country that would get its stuff together quickly. It's geographically small, fairly wealthy, and socially aware, too, and those things help.

I love the loud, collective "NOOOOOOOOO" from the crowd.

No

Let's give it two more days for nominations. I'll close nominations on Wednesday.

There is an imposter!
-
Taro is a one man nominating machine!
-
Very interesting. I didn't see too much hysteria in the other instances. I think you may have a blind spot.

We need something to do right now. So here's what I'm thinking. Let's name the best eight Sabres teams that we can, put them into a bracket, and have a playoff that we vote on (and explain the reasons for our votes, because, again, we need something to do.) Nominations are hereby solicited; please post nominations in this thread. A "thumbs up" response means that you like the selection and think that it belongs in the bracket, so please respond to nominations. The bracket will be seeded by thumbs ups.

1. Do we think that Wegmans should pay its cashiers who aren't working 12-6am because the stores are closed now? (I do, but where is the outrage there?) The Wegmans are billionaires, too. Again, any other business that closed? Plus, the Sabres already said that they're going to take care of their workers. What more to do? Geez. 2. I note that, as usual, right wing favored political commentary gets a pass here, right, @nfreeman? You've been online after it started and you haven't issued the admonition that you normally would to Liger, me, countless others.

They were, and I'll die on this hill.

Get that boy band crap out of here...
-
Well now I know at least one thing that the Sabres Foundation actually does besides sell 50/50 tickets. Don't know, but it sure could be used for some poster's reactions today. "Figuring it out" /= "we're not going to take care of it."

And a predisposition to view the Pegulas as evil. Does anyone know if NYS is paying its hourly employees who stay home? Or Facebook? Or any other employer? No, but let's attack Tim and Kerry.

And now we see the danger of jumping to a conclusion when the original article simply said that the Sabres hadn't come to a decision yet.
