  1. He also was such a hot prospect that CBC was broadcasting his games over-the-air, i.e., not buried on cable, when he was with Oshawa--I know this because I watched those games and my dorm room at UB definitely did not have cable. Did they even do that for McDavid? Ooh good point.
  2. No worries--I'm just trying to start conversations in our boring times. I'm not sure I would do it and I'm not sure I wouldn't.
  3. Not the news I was hoping to see today. I hope you both get very well very quickly. Roswell Park may have found something: https://buffalonews.com/2020/04/02/covid-19-trial-catches-the-eye-of-a-molecular-biologist-native-son/
  4. Let's assume Lindros doesn't get injured and ends up "better" than Forsberg (IMO he was anyway).
  5. Fair opinion indeed. But you need a phone that puts the letters A, B, B again, and Y in the right order.
  6. She did say "for weeks yet." She also said "it will not be there by next week." The first was a prediction--it was not correct--and the second was a refined prediction, which was correct. MSNBC is every bit as idiotic as Fox. It's just nowhere near as popular because most progressives are smart enough not to get their opinions from cable "news" shows. (Yes, everyone watches your financial show!)
  7. Are you sure? If you were the GM, you could change the team's entire DNA in one move (well, you'd have to fire Rip, too). I'm not saying what's right or wrong, I'm just asking and clarifying the question.
  8. I've watched enough Trailer Park Boys to know otherwise.
  9. He was so unfairly hated on here. The paycheck was the problem, not the player.
  10. Just like it says. And please remember that we are talking about an actual Lindros-like haul, and not some goofy Botterill ROR trade.
  11. This thread is increasing my vocabulary on a daily basis, based upon an average of the last two days. Thank you.
  12. He killed Michael Peca. Peca wasn't a Sabre at the time, but still...
  13. This applies to so many people. He was a great skater and a great offensive forward. He was horrible in his own end. But he had something very special when that puck was on his stick.
  14. Serious question to our doctors out there: Is there a certain time period when I can deem myself safe to visit my parents (they are elderly) other than standing in their driveway ten feet apart? None of us have self-quarantined. We go to stores when we need to, I order takeout once in a while, etc. But I have lived alone for over two weeks now. So am I "fourteen days safe" or do I need to stay distant from them?
  15. Rip it up. We can't afford to lose you. I don't mean as a doctor, I mean as a SS poster!
  16. Who is the prospect in the deal? IMO, it should be a decent rostered player at a cheap price if the Sabres are taking on that contract. And absolutely not a draft pick. Can't say it enough: draft picks in the NHL are not good compensation. And how do they deal with Hutton's cap hit?
  17. I should clarify that I did mean the quality of players that Quebec received in the Lindros trade. Not what Botterill would likely get, which may be this^
  18. Not that this has anything to do with the point of the exercise (which is to relieve boredom and talk hockey), but Botterill in no way is in more of a position of weakness than Quebec was when it traded Lindros. Lindros had publicly stated that he never would play for Quebec, and had successfully used that same ploy earlier in his career, when he refused to play for Soo and was traded to Oshawa. Quebec had no leverage whatsoever and still received two competing, and heavy, bids.
  19. Does steaming mad and reading SabreSpace count? Because something happened a couple of hours ago that has me steaming mad.
  20. That's why the question is fun. But the real premise, as I intended it, is a haul similar to the Lindros trade, i.e., sure things. And I like the answers I see.
  21. Oh absolutely. That's why I'm asking you all and not him. Well, also, I don't have a way to reach him.
  22. He had already won a Vezina, come second in Calder voting, and carried a team to a Stanley Cup Final Game 7 against the Oilers. He was in his prime and was practically a star. I think any comparison has to have a very solid starting goalie coming back in return.
