True or false: Risto was much improved under Ralph?
Eleven replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
But that's kind of the same problem. There was no reason to see Chara rising the way he did, either. He was just this awkward big dude who screwed up a lot but could level people. Then be became what he is. I don't need Ristolainen to remain a Sabre for life, but I do want more than some Alexi Ya$hin in return if the Sabs trade him. -
Patriot, you're the one who started it with "idiots." Not me. You might reconsider whether you truly represent our great country with the invective you use. EDIT: And I lost my job?! That's just funny.

freeman, even I'm too young for Earl Campbell. Geez.
-
Ha on the anglers! I won't speak for weave but I don't think he'd block someone out of disagreement. Otherwise he wouldn't take my phone calls.

Wait--except that Vince Young game against USC maybe?

Probable cause of a pissing match is Hank calling people who don't agree with him "idiots." Because Hank is a patriot! That was the "shots fired."

Doesn't that presuppose everything? I'm not saying Ristolainen is going to be Chara, but to cut off Ristolainen's development at this point, as whomever I originally responded to did, isn't right. -
This seems to have started it:
-
Deliberately failing to distinguish between the reason for the stop and the reason for the search.
-
Ah Hank. Such a patriot.

I did this on a dare in college, and it was, in fact, Country Time Lemonade.. I do not recommend it. It was good for a laugh though, and probably got me somewhere with Katie from the second floor or whomever.

It's legal in Virginia now?

Sure, so let me try to come at it this way. If a LEO pulls someone over and wants to give them a hard time*--whether it has to do with race or not--and search a vehicle, etc., that LEO is going to want to find as many reasons as possible to justify the search. Just because you're driving with a can of beer between your legs does not necessarily mean that probable cause for a search exists. (Nor does it mean that if that's the only thing you're doing wrong, there is no PC.) But now, if that LEO "smells something," or has unsupportable and vague allegations that the person must be "on something else," or whatever, well, there's another basis. "I saw him make a sudden movement" wasn't uncommon before body cameras, for example. Or "it looked like she had a bulge in her pants." A LEO who wants to create probable cause isn't going to rely on just the beer can; the LEO is going to "find," i.e., create, as many reasons as possible. I'm not anti-LEO at ALL. I used to interact with LEOs on a near-daily basis and most of them are fine people. But when I see this happen, where it happened, and to whom it happened, my hunch, based only upon life experience and a life of reading the news, is that something else was at play. *And sometimes there are really good reasons why the LEO wants to give someone a hard time. Prior experience with the individual, or the individual starts with some sovereign citizen nonsense, etc., etc.

I remember plenty of brain farts. We all knew he was going to grow into something, but I don't think we all knew he was going to be as great as he has become. I certainly didn't think so. -

We don't need them if we remember what his play was like with the Isles and during his earlier years in Ottawa. And I do remember! -

That's pre-analytics, though. You have to Fenwick that number by the square root of defensive zone starts and then re-reticulate it across the cosine of Corsi times WAR. -
That looks like a baby Muppet Sam. (Yes, I know that Muppet Sam is an eagle, not an owl.)

Shouldn't it be Ristolainen who is the beneficiary of your largesse of luck-wishing? We're all rooting for the same team here! -
I'm not so sure about that. Also, if I'm the type of LEO who is prone to try to give black people a hard time, I'm going to have multiple pretextual bases for my search if I can. Some Kenmore police officers refer to "UNITs" when they see certain people walking down Delaware or Elmwood. U is Unidentified. I is In. T is Town, and you can figure out N for yourself.

So on my Hulu front page right now, "Taylor Swift: City of Love" is right next to a show called ":Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell." I'm not interested in either, but the juxtaposition is somewhat stark.

That is right around the same point in Chara's career where he started to bloom. -
Might as well go all the way and get real bratwurst if I'm headed in that direction.

I remember thinking the exact same thing when this article came out. It's fine to cut them, BTW, as long as you leave them on the grill long enough to crisp up. Gross. I will give them a try some time.

It was the "I smell something" or whatever pretext for the search that was BS and not the initial stop (which was prompted by a caller who saw him speeding toward a construction zone, not drinking a beer). And if you want to call me and others idiots, fine, but I know how this world works.
-
Yeah, I'm a little younger than you guys, but they didn't "smell anything in my car" in those days, either.
