  1. They changed the rules mid-overtime once.
  2. The NHL has used so many playoff formats over the years that it doesn't matter. Cup tournaments before that were bizarre, too. I don't see anyone criticizing the Habs for winning all those Cups in a 6 team league with a lockdown on French-speaking players, either.
  3. It's owned by the CCP, and they DO track everything.
  4. That's why.
  5. Even if all of this is correct, and I've no reason to doubt you, I want a roster-ready player back in a Ristolainen trade. The future is evaporating again.
  6. Version with full comments: https://www.theplayerstribune.com/en-us/articles/mark-scheifele-2020-nhl-awards
  7. I understand isolating anyone with COVID in a COVID ward, even if they're admitted for a broken arm. And I understand the nursing home not wanting to take back a patient with the diagnosis, because they're ill-equipped to deal with it. So where do these patients go? Please tell me they're not taking up hospital beds after they no longer need them. Maybe we need to create a couple of COVID nursing homes. Mildly infuriating.
  8. Why did they count as COVID admits? Did they have the disease but just happened to be hospitalized for another reason?
  9. It's not like Cody Glass was going to change the team's fortunes this season. He's still a prospect, and like @dudacek says, he is comparable to Mittelstadt. I don't mind getting real value for Ristolainen, but Glass isn't it. And I certainly don't mind firing Botterill, but this isn't the reason.
  10. Yeah, I posted about that earlier in the week: https://www.sabrespace.com/community/topic/24579-the-even-randomer-thread/?do=findComment&comment=1270716
  11. Some of these rules just might violate 1A. Anyone with some sense is obeying them anyway, though. I don't like politics and religion mixing, either.
  12. I think we all know that we would have excoriated Botterill if he didn't sign Skinner, and there was a price tag that came with it. I'm not happy with Skinner's production this (current? past?) season, but it would be intellectually dishonest of me to think that I didn't want him to be signed last summer. To me, the bigger problem with Skinner is that Krueger doesn't use him correctly.
  13. Frankly, it's worth putting new tubes in just so I can remember and/or relearn the technique!
  14. That would be great. I've got to fix a pedal and grease up the chain but other than that I think I'm good to go. I might put some new tubes in; it's been years since I rode.
  15. I'm getting back into it this summer too.
  16. I know I'm not the person whom you asked the question of, but I'm not sending 20 year old Dahlin out for 27 year old Scheifele.
  17. You're not supposed to use it to find your way back from the bathroom.
  18. Here is a paywall-free version of Scheifele's entire comments on Eichel 4 Hart, together with his other award "votes," and it includes the Chicago game video I mentioned above: https://www.theplayerstribune.com/en-us/articles/mark-scheifele-2020-nhl-awards
  19. Botterill is not up to the task and the Sabres need to replace him now. As for core players, are there even any? There are three guys on this team that I'd be reluctant to see the Sabres not keep (9, 23, 26), and I'd even let them go for the right deal. Yes, I still like Skinner, yes I still like Ristolainen, etc. but they aren't part of the "core" of any successful NHL team.
  20. The Buffalo News article, for those with access, has more detail from Scheifele. He breaks down a video of one play against Chicago: "It’s almost like Jack has the puck already and he’s actually just trying to beat the Blackhawks’ defender. Look at the way he feints his hips toward the boards, he wants the D-man to drop the puck to his trailing teammate. He’s a few seconds ahead of everyone on the ice. Then he beats future Hall of Famer Duncan Keith and draws the pokecheck out of the goalie before putting the puck in the net. There’s like 15 small things that happen in that play that most guys in the league can’t do." That quote is what impressed me most. https://buffalonews.com/2020/04/30/buffalo-sabres-jack-eichel-hart-trophy-mark-scheifele/
  21. Joe Thornton scored a goal for Boston in this game. It was 21 years ago.
  22. I have to one-up this. Sorry. I give you Paris Hilton:
  23. Oh. That's not me.
  24. Over Schoeny?
