  1. If you want to say I lack class, fine. Am I wrong? No matter what Tim and Kerry do, you will not be happy.
  2. It's PA. Facts aren't going to be a thing here. Like when they hired some guy named Rex Ryan--an inexperienced, puppet coach. Right?
  3. I agree. He was horrible. But I do think that Eichel's recent comments stirred the pot a bit.
  4. Some people never can be satisfied. Too soon and too late?
  5. Well, one of them is gone now
  6. Again, that's a GM who knows what's up. Botterill isn't him/her.
  7. Yes. Getting back to the topic (here? on Sabrespace?!), the team is a disaster. The question is whether Kim Pegula is the reason. She isn't. She's the president of another sports team that is mildly successful and seems to be rising. She didn't play that sport, either. She isn't the issue, and adding another layer between her and the GM is useless (as we learned from the aforementioned Mr. Black.). The problem, mainly, is Botterill. And, just to raise a few feathers, the remaining part of the problem is that they fired a coach who shouldn't have been fired in the first place, and have been wandering at sea ever since. Just like I wrote it ten years ago.
  8. I guess one more thing, John: If you want to engage with posters here, I think it's great. It's a wonderful opportunity for us to talk with a reporter, and it's a wonderful opportunity for the AP to get exposure. Again, I like your work and I like the dialogue. But if it's always going to be "I'm taking my ball and going home" when someone disagrees, well, there's Twitter for that.
  9. Well, here's one problem. The disparagement has not been constant, nor has it been consistent. I know that others, and I, have offered positive opinions on your work. I also know that if someone believed that your only source was Larry Quinn, that person is a little kooky. An awful lot of us read your work and trust it over other sources. In my own personal opinion, you, Hoppe, and Yerdon, and maybe Vogl (when reporting and not acting as a columnist; he has a dual role, unfortunately), are in an echelon above the rest. You may be right, but this is not how I remember it. And I do not believe that the poster with who you had trouble in this thread, @PASabreFan , is someone with whom you've had trouble before. I think you may have mixed up a couple of people. I think that PA generally likes your stuff. Also well said.
  10. Science journal articles don't use adverbs and metaphors like this one does. There's something up, here. It absolutely does not read like a scholarly piece. When I looked at the "about us" page, I learned a little. And, like you, I thought this whole thing was a joke at the beginning. Like Hope Solo and Zika.
  11. Like a retriever and a shepherd.
  12. Until you actually read it.
  13. Oh Mr. "I got most of them right..." Nice job. Seriously, I didn't think anyone would nail 4/5, even with the last one being a gimme.
  14. I am a big defender of John Wawrow and always will be, but this is a very accurate critique of what happened here. John, if you're reading this: We know that you have access to facts that we don't. We also value your presence here. But if you're here, you're JAG like the rest of us--albeit a more informed JAG. Still, we have conversations here. Mostly polite conversations; sometimes not so much. Conversations require give and take.
  15. I blame Tim and Kerry.
  16. I would like to formally apologize for my role in said poopstorm. I didn't start the fire, but I certainly poured enough fuel on it to make it into a raging inferno instead of a backyard firepit. I know I'm better than that, and I know we're all supposed to be better than that. I just wasn't better that day.
  17. The gal in the video reminds me of Sloane Martin. I really miss her and her husband (Matthew Coller) on WGR. I know they're doing well in Minnesota, but I wish they were here.
  18. You nearly got them all. 3/5
  19. Answer the questions, and, while you're at it, my ship is in the car park.
  20. I needed to take some time away from the board to learn to deal more charitably with people who call me an idiot. I did need to relax for a bit. Bonus points to @Wyldnwoody44 for literally saving my life. Sorry, folks, I'm back. So...and NO CHEATING... 1. The first event at "The Aud" was: (a) a dog show (b) a hockey game (c) a political rally (d) a basketball game (e) a circus 2. Two former Sabres with "Gilbert" in their name have retired numbers. One of them is obvious. Is the other: (a) Dominik Hasek (b) Tim Horton (c) Danny Gare (d) Rick Martin (e) Pat LaFontaine (f) Rene Robert 3. Elvis "Wayne" Presley performed at the Aud how many times? (No multiple choice; it's between one and five.) 4. As long as we're on music, which artist had a posthumously-released album called "Buffalo," recorded at The Aud? (a) Johnny Cash (b) David Bowie (c) Patsy Cline (d) Frank Zappa (e) Jerry Garcia 5. When the new Arena, whatever of its many names, opened, the scoreboard fell. It *really* should have killed which team: (a) the Boston Bruins (b) the Boston Bruins (c) the Boston Bruins (d) the Philadelphia Maple-Habs (e) the Boston Bruins
  21. It was. I've had a couple of herb gardens in my life, and they are wonderful. Good luck with yours!
