Ah, let me tell you about the other grandfather, the sushi chef. (No, that would be a lie. He made monuments. Like the things you find at gravesites. And before anyone gets started, no, not the big statues.) EDIT: It was kind of the basic stuff, like this: PA SABRE FAN 1949-2022 "LINDY RUFF WAS THE GREATEST COACH EVER" But on a stone instead of an Internet message board.

Oh, no! Not my point! All I meant is that old-school bakeries had really good cupcakes and stuff that you can't find today at your local cupcakery. THOSE were gourmet cupcakes.

Jeremy Roenick Sues NBC Sports for Anti-Straight Discrimination in Firing
Eleven replied to Tondas's topic in The Aud Club
Let's assume, for a minute, that your last sentence is right. Problem is, he doesn't bring much value to the company so he's not worth preserving. Now, let's get into reality. Does NBC want to be sued by Tappen, who has a case, or Roenick, who probably does not? This is an easy decision for NBC. -
He died about a week after Brett Hull cheated, I'm afraid. EDIT: But his bakery on Grant Street was legendary. I had some random come up to me about ten years ago raving about the donuts and bread he used to get at some place called "Colonial" on Grant. Yep, that was his.

Omigosh she is adorable. She looks more like a retriever than a shepherd (except the jaw), but ,maybe she grows into it. Had an Aussie here. I miss him.

I keep clicking on your video, but it's a still.

Granddad was a baker. Old-school. You know, back when we had bakeries instead of cupcake shops. And you're wrong.

Jeremy Roenick Sues NBC Sports for Anti-Straight Discrimination in Firing
Eleven replied to Tondas's topic in The Aud Club
Why he was hired to begin with (I tend to think you are correct) has nothing to do with why he was fired (which absolutely must have happened given his comments on Tappen and Sharp). Can you even think about NBC's liability if they had allowed him to coexist with Tappen? Just because she's good-looking doesn't mean you're allowed to broadcast what you'd like to do with her. He's an ass. He acted like one. He finally got his. Let's see what comes out of the NYS court system on this; I'm betting that it isn't sympathetic to poor Jeremy. -
Jeremy Roenick Sues NBC Sports for Anti-Straight Discrimination in Firing

Sure, but it follows that an employer who takes adverse action against an employee because they're straight is doing so because that person has exhibited behavior or attributes that are deemed unacceptable because [the target of the employee's behavior] IS of the opposite sex. As we know, most of the civil rights canon originated as a way to protect women, people of color, and religious minorities. That doesn't mean it's ok for your employer to fire you because you're a white male. We know it isn't. I think the same standard is going to apply here. Unfortunately for Mr. Roenick, his behavior justifies his firing while Weir's may or may not. EDIT: I just re-read the article and I think his complaint might be under NYS law and not federal law anyway. -
Jeremy Roenick Sues NBC Sports for Anti-Straight Discrimination in Firing

I do read it that way. The phrase "protected class" does not appear in the opinion, but it's the only reasonable reading. Sexual orientation is now a protected class at the federal level, and of course that applies to all sexual orientations, including straight. Roenick's problem is going to be that what Weir said doesn't even come close to the level of what Roenick said. Well, I mean his problem with the case. Obviously, he has plenty of other problems in general. -
Nice, unbiased article. Just the straight poop!

Took me a minute, but well done. -
Is it really, though? To put on a mask and stay six feet away from strangers? I don't see it as a huge burden at all. There are now stores that aren't even enforcing the rules and have pulled up their six-foot distance markers (I'm looking at you, Speedway on Elmwood). I did ask someone to back up the other day, and he did, though.

Lots of places are doing stuff like that to satisfy the rule. Some bars don't have kitchens. Hotel Lafayette, which *does* have a kitchen, has come out with a dollar menu including a slice of cold cut (chef's choice), nine French fries, a basket of croutons, and a dish of grapes.

Not sure how the tweet relates to the Johnson pick. Is it because Robertson is subbing in for an unavailable player?
-
"New York is now requiring bars to serve food with alcohol" belongs in the politics club? Yeah, sensible approach.

It is as of last month. Boystock v. Clayton County. -
Fair point.

I like our local NBC affiliate's news team (WGRZ, Ch. 2), mostly because I have a couple of friends on camera there. I won't watch any of the Big Three network news broadcasts (nor any of the Big Three cable news broadcasts, for that matter). Roenick was overrated as a player and remained overrated on camera. -
Oh give it a rest and play your trumpet. It's hardly disguised, Neo, and now you're trying to play me as a fool, which I do not appreciate at all.

I like the Sabres more than the Bills. I also greatly prefer this board to TBD. I don't go there often and I happen to agree with you. But I'm also not going to discourage others from it because Scott is a good dude. I also have the (uninformed by personal experience) thought that the folks at TBD who are hardcore do some pretty nifty tailgating together.

1. You are being used as a pawn in another argument. There is a double standard in this thread. 2. I regret using you as a pawn, but, at this point, I'm more Howard Beale and not so much Harry Neale. That's on me, but I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore.

@nfreeman this isn't political, right?

For once in this thread, you're correct. I don't think I ever gave less than a B- when I was a professor. Then again, my students were good.
