At least they're not putting deodorant ads on refs' armpits. Australian cricket league is doing just that. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2020/dec/10/armpit-advertising-australian-cricket-umpires-to-carry-deoderant-ads-under-their-arms?utm_source=fark&utm_medium=website&utm_content=link&ICID=ref_fark

NBA already started it a few years ago. I think we have two options, just like our parents did when they put ads on the boards: (1) Get used to it; or (2) Stop following the NHL. This is a "when" and not an "if."

ESPN is deliberately naming the son. (It also named the father later in the article.) ESPN isn't the one trying to keep it confidential. That said, I still don't like ESPN.

LSU self-imposed a bowl ban for this year. Because of course. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/30486292/lsu-football-self-imposes-one-year-bowl-ban-2020-season

Save it for the herpes thread.

Me too. I just think there's so much that can happen between now and then. I'll have what he's having.

Yeah, that's what I'm envisioning.

He isn't a bad coach. He isn't a good coach at Michigan. He loses the big recruiting battles every year. I think he'd be fine back in the NFL, where he doesn't have to worry about that. (Look for him in LA next year.) As for the admission standards, sorry; Michigan plays the same game as every most other D-I teams. UNC is a very good school, too, but I think we've seen what its basketball program does.

The only way to really have a taxi squad is to separate them from the rest of the team, I would think. Yeah, it's going to burn a development year, but having them practice with their coaches is better than doing nothing if there is no AHL (and I don't think there will be AHL).

No more memes from you, then!

Am I the only person who finds the animated bear who says "let's Snuggle!" at the end of the fabric softener commercial to be a little on the creepy side?

It's factual. Certainly, there was no national strategy, but the post doesn't seem to blame anyone in particular. It isn't a political post and it does not belong in the politics club. If you're that sensitive that you need to censor words you perceive as critical of someone you support, please take care of it another way; please don't move things like this into the politics club. It has nothing to do with discussion of politics. Thank you.

Why was the following post moved into the politics club? Anyone know Erie County's positivity rate currently? I also saw somewhere (twitter I think) that some places in other states are around 20% positive rate... that is insane. Almost like pretending this didn't exist and having no strategy for the country has been bad.

Do you mean the 24-team playoffs or real playoffs?

Totally normal for a PI flag to come from the other side of the field and the referee not get his crew to huddle up and discuss it...nothing to see here...

Cyclones (ECHL affiliate) are canceling their season: https://cycloneshockey.com/news/2020/12/cyclones-enact-pandemic-voluntary-suspension-for-upcoming-season

Not everything is based upon simple statistics, and this team isn't going very far with 2019-20 Ullmark as its primary goaltender. Either he steps up, the Sabres find someone else, or the Sabres will not go anywhere.

Don't take my 90s away from me.

It does make one wonder how the Bills lost to the Titans at all, much less 42-16.

Before you get too high and mighty, the only reason Sparty boosters don't do wrong things with goats is because they can't figure it out...
-
Fine, he has pictures of boosters with goats.

I don't care about Michigan or Harbaugh; I just think it's fascinating that the guy still has his job. Like he has pictures of the entire Michigan Board of Regents doing wrong things with goats or something.

Not sure if you are in WNY, but people were outside two weeks before the current lockdown, too. It was in the 70s. Most of October and the first couple of weeks of November were gorgeous.

Maybe the hairdresser in my example should start selling canned food and underwear and then she can remain open as an essential business, providing haircuts on the side, the same way Walmart stays open by selling food and underwear while making a large portion of its money on schlock that isn't essential to anyone for any reason.

I continue to see little sense in the shutdown. We've been shut down for two weeks now, and cases continue to rise. When things were open during the summer and fall, cases did not rise. I do not see a correlation between the shutdown and a decrease in cases. For those who would say "give it more time," no; by the time we "give it more time," we'll be attributing the rise in cases to a "holiday bump," which actually does make some sense. Meanwhile, people can go into Walmart and put their grubby hands all over holiday decorations that they easily could have ordered online (yeah, that's essential!), but not get a haircut from someone who actually needs her small business to be open. Correlation? Weather. That's about it.
