  1. Don't apologize to GASabres. Apologize to the SEC commissioner.
  2. That was my first thought, and my second thought was "but no way is Baltimore favored." Were the Ravens actually favored?
  3. Yep, I remember this video from then. Even when the Bills are playing a team other than the Jets or Eagles, the field still is green. The all-reds are hideous and stupid. They look like a D-III team out there.
  4. They're fugly and they cause problems for color blind people like my brother-in-law.
  5. I understood one! I understood one!
  6. Just the NYS requirements.
  7. Lobsters live at the bottom of the sea While I'm at the bottom of the air.
  8. I'm hardly the one who brought it up here.
  9. A lot. And if they change sponsors every couple of years, like European soccer teams do, they stand to make even more.
  10. 3000 Americans--and that's just one country--daily, would love to disagree with you but cannot. Here's France. Deaths over the last 20 years. Again, just one country. This is a deadly pandemic. I'm not sure all of the precautions we are taking are necessary and/or helpful, but this is a deadly pandemic.
  11. And yet I can see Vince Wilfork getting away with it and the guy retrieving his shoe while the clock ticks down against whatever team the Pats were playing.
  12. Depends on the state.
  13. I guess it says that the scouts were great but Botterill still wasn't a good GM?
  14. You're going to have a tough time convincing me that any big football program except ND and Stanford* isn't playing the same game. I don't care if it's an excellent academic school (Texas, Michigan) or a crap academic school (Arizona State, Florida State) or something in between. The big programs are all lowering standards, considerably, for football players. *You can add Cal and BC to this list if you consider them to be big football programs. I don't.
  15. I can't think of sports more steeped in a sense of tradition than Test cricket and golf. Players in both wear advertising--even on national uniforms in Test cricket. I don't like it, but it's silly to get upset about the inevitable.
  16. IMO, that's an example of ineffective arena advertising. Putting MODERN all over the place, without indicating what the company does, does nothing to build awareness. Same goes for Danforth on the shovels. I was about 25 by the time I figured out that USF&G was an insurance company and not a sugar manufacturer. (The Sugar Bowl was known as the "USF&G Sugar Bowl" for a long time.)
  17. At least they're not putting deodorant ads on refs' armpits. Australian cricket league is doing just that. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2020/dec/10/armpit-advertising-australian-cricket-umpires-to-carry-deoderant-ads-under-their-arms?utm_source=fark&utm_medium=website&utm_content=link&ICID=ref_fark
  18. NBA already started it a few years ago. I think we have two options, just like our parents did when they put ads on the boards: (1) Get used to it; or (2) Stop following the NHL. This is a "when" and not an "if."
  19. ESPN is deliberately naming the son. (It also named the father later in the article.) ESPN isn't the one trying to keep it confidential. That said, I still don't like ESPN.
  20. LSU self-imposed a bowl ban for this year. Because of course. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/30486292/lsu-football-self-imposes-one-year-bowl-ban-2020-season
  21. Save it for the herpes thread.
  22. Me too. I just think there's so much that can happen between now and then. I'll have what he's having.
  23. Yeah, that's what I'm envisioning.
  24. He isn't a bad coach. He isn't a good coach at Michigan. He loses the big recruiting battles every year. I think he'd be fine back in the NFL, where he doesn't have to worry about that. (Look for him in LA next year.) As for the admission standards, sorry; Michigan plays the same game as every most other D-I teams. UNC is a very good school, too, but I think we've seen what its basketball program does.
  25. The only way to really have a taxi squad is to separate them from the rest of the team, I would think. Yeah, it's going to burn a development year, but having them practice with their coaches is better than doing nothing if there is no AHL (and I don't think there will be AHL).
