I have a hat somewhere signed by the French Connection but I wasn't there when they signed it. I've got memories of standing next to Perreault at Mass, talking with Don Luce (once as a child and once as an adult), telling Max and Teppo at dinner to make sure they won their next playoff game (and Max nodding at me), and telling Miller that we were going to miss him a couple of weeks before he was traded. I actually sat next to Miller at dinner twice (we both liked eating at the bar at the same restaurant, it seems) but I didn't bug him while he was with other people. For some reason it made sense to bug him in Walgreens at 3am, though.

Get a goaltender. That's how it gets fixed. All this "you can win with an average goaltender" nonsense from the last ten years is just that, nonsense. And I'm not sure the Sabres even have an average goaltender. Oh, I'd love it if the "Miller is mediocre" crowd came back having learned their lesson.

I still think G is more important than C in the playoffs, but the Jets have that covered.

I'm not excited at the idea of Fleury coming here; it's an interesting idea but it doesn't move me. I just can't think of any other goalies "out west" that are on the block.

Hamsammich talked a bit about this yesterday. He said that when he lost his wife, he took a couple of days and then was eager to be back with his WGR "family." This makes a lot of sense to me. There is a search for some sort of "regular-ness" when grieving. Anything you can latch on to, really. While I'm sure that Ullmark is anxious for the chance to travel back to Sweden for a memorial of some sort (I have no idea what countries are allowing funerals, etc. right now), I'm also pretty sure that being around his teammates is just as important as being around his wife and son right now.

That is a big trade. Very interesting. Why? 1. He shouldn't be involved in personnel moves and 2. what Laine-quality player did the Sabres have to offer?

I will say right now that I will prefer it if Johansson takes a loss against Washington than if Hutton does. At least Johansson could benefit from the experience. Hutton cannot.
