Because we can either do this inexpensively and inefficiently by having governments (regardless of politics) in charge of distribution or we can do it expensively and efficiently by having companies experienced in logistics handle it. We're running out of money, so inexpensive it is. Can you imagine Amazon screwing this up? Neither can I. But Amazon isn't going to do it for free, and its workers probably wouldn't be properly protected or fairly paid, either. Maybe putting the Army in charge is the right move.

I was aware of the Sabres but not aware of what was going on in the city around me. I watched the beginnings of most games and went to a couple. But I was three. Just like the Bills frenzy of 2020 far surpassed that of 1988, I'm sure that the Sabres frenzy of 1999, 2006, and 2007 surpassed that of 1975. I've never seen a photo of a "welcome to Perreaultville" sign on the expressway...

I was around but not aware. The town was in a frenzy over the team several other times as well. Pilot Field or whatever they call it was pretty full just for a simulcast in 1999. Alumni Plaza was packed in 2006 and 2007.

Seriously, the team did not peak 46 years ago. Come on.

I am completely unfamiliar with, and somewhat afraid of, the meaning of this. Now this, I know. I have one.

Every time I watch this, I am amazed, absolutely amazed, at the production quality. And Shuler Hensley would have made a better Javert than Russell Crowe (although he would not have driven the box receipts). Crowe can't sing in the bass range with the confidence Hensley has here. It's almost too bad that I can't share it with a lot of friends just because of the political nature of it.

I definitely am not mixing up the teams. In 1998, the Sabres had lost in the semifinals. We had expectations the following year. In 2005, the season was canceled. In 2004, the Sabres finished last in the division. When the 2005-06 season started, none of us had any idea that the team would be so good. Rookies (including one who was waived and who scored a series-winning goal while being entrusted to kill a penalty in overtime) filled out the roster. In 1999, we had expectations of Hasek; in 2006, we were just hoping that Miller would be starter-quality.

I'm with you (except for the uniforms)--that 2006 run was So. Much. Fun. The 1999 run was more tense because we expected greatness. The 2006 run was pure unanticipated joy.

I'll find the next scheduled hearing date if you really want, but I think this will go more along the lines of Nowak's earlier ruling (opening restaurants again) and the state will give up.
