Well, for anyone that wanted a Granato permanency (not saying that anyone did): 1. The team just lost to a Devils team that traded away its only two decent players yesterday. 2. The team just lost to a goalie who is unfit to play that position in even the AHL. 3. Colin Miller got power play minutes. And screwed up as expected. 4. Jeff Skinner looks about as skilled as PA, who is just learning to skate. Also, he was not put in a position to succeed. 5. MOST GLARINGLY, what was Thompson doing on Reinhart's line? Mittlestadt-Thompson-Asplund did so well the other night. Why in the world mess with that? No Granato unless he takes them to the finals. (Which will not happen.)

Make it Colin Miller instead and I'm in.

Skinner is a mess right now. First, he initiates a dump-and-chase with no followers and no line change. About 13 seconds later, he retreats behind the offensive blue line to receive a pass that he easily could have received in the zone. I'm blaming some of it on Krueger, but come on. You're a $9M player. Act like one.

I've got to say, the last few games, Casey has impressed me. And tonight, with Thompson and Asplund, they were flying all over the place. They look good together! Even Thompson was good. Really, there could be room for this line in the future of this team.

As I've said for two weeks (more?) now: Do not trade him for anything less than a first-round pick. If the league needs to be shown that the Sabres are not a discount outlet, so be it. That will pay off gains over time more than a second-round pick will.

I liked how he looked on Monday, too. For most of the game, at least.
