  1. He was perfect. He must have rehearsed it for a week.
  2. It's not like Mongol hordes were sweeping across the Asian plains when the Sabres hired Krueger. It was two years ago.
  3. “If the player says, ‘I’ll go to one team,’ say, ‘Good luck in the summer, dude. It ain’t happening—because I can’t trade you to one team without embarrassing this organization.’ ” https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/quick-shifts-mysterious-value-finishing-no-1-canada/ Should have done just that.
  4. See what I mean? Can someone come up with the sum total that the Pegulas have spent on coaches since 2011, and the sum total of how much they have spent on fired coaches since 2011, so we can finally get rid of this stuff? They're not exactly shy about spending $ on coaches.
  5. @Taro T There's our answer.
  6. I'll take him over Hutton any day.
  7. Ok. I've seen enough of a body of work to opine: 1. There's nothing wrong with hiring a coach without NHL coaching experience, normally. Plenty of coaches have success with their first NHL jobs, and plenty don't. 2. This team, though, is out of chances. It sort of needs to hire an experienced coach. 3. On the other hand, Granato is doing a lot with this team. It's exciting again, and that's without a starting goalie, Eichel, Hall, or McCabe, along with several solid role-players. 4. So if the team is going to go the "new guy" route with Granato, and keep him on a tight leash, I guess I'm ok with it. 5. I don't want the team experimenting with any other "new guy," though, and that includes Leeman/Leaman/Lehman/however he spells it, which I'm not going to learn, because I don't want him here. 6. So for me, it's either the grizzled vet or Granato. I don't expect that it will come down to cost, either, although I do expect that if the team hires Granato, certain people here will claim that it had come down to cost.
  8. Yeah, I see that they've sucked me in again, along with at least 13 others so far.
  9. Much more under control than a year ago. At least this not-quite-as-big guy acknowledges the threat.
  10. Norwich is back up.
  11. Oh, Three Billboards. Don't know why I forgot that the first time around.
  12. There's no way the playoffs start on time.
  13. Any team that wins the ScotiaBank North Division brought to you by McCain Superfries is going to have to play the next round(s) in the States unless Canada can get its act together.
  14. Colin Miller still leaving his mark on the only team that would have him.
  15. Ristonalinen and Dahlin should not be on the same powerplay unit.
  16. He absolutely did. Some here claim it was fortunate that the NHL changed its rules to favor the Sabres' style of play at the time; I'm not so sure.
  17. Regier could trade--even under pressure like the Peca deal. He won almost every deal, if not all of them. His problem, as others have pointed out, was while he could acquire assets in trades really, really well, he couldn't necessarily assemble them into a team. Also, his drafting wasn't stellar.
  18. Fogerty can go back to CCR anytime he wants. You know which kids I meant.
  19. I want the kids to learn how to win. That's more important.
