I loved the "Vegas in 3" memes on reddit about two weeks ago. The final is going to be one heck of a series. We kind of need this right now; it's been a rough year-plus.

The things you propose are not sports, Darth. I don't know much about the Star Wars universe, but I commend, and/or condemn, you back to it. Chewbacca will help me if necessary.

A GM who bases decisions on the fanbase is a bad GM anyway. (I think that's where you were going with this.)

Thousands of people watch chess and poker. Not sports.

Right now, hundreds of thousands of sports fans are tuning in to the annual Jim Rome Smackoff. It is a competition and the results are not predetermined. It is not a sport.

The spelling bee is not a sporting event.

1. I really didn't know that! Thanks. 2. You're probably right. There also were multiple articles, essays, and probably books about how no international series would be played in Canada this year, too, but that ended as soon as it was clear that Montreal was in the semis. (It would have been the same for Toronto, also, but not for the Prairie teams. Not enough votes in Manitoba or Alberta.)

I can't hate Montreal. Even though they've been in our division for every year except this one. (The only one left is Boston.) I just can't. They are classic, they aren't dirty, there's nothing there to hate. I'm happy that they're in instead of "we bought a team" Vegas. You're not a young man, and yet you forget 1980.

This is how it's going down: SABRES TRADE EICHEL IN NHL-RECORD 5 TEAM DEAL By John Wowraw, Associated Press TORONTO, June 25, 2021 In a flurry of trades, the Buffalo Sabres traded superstar center Jack Eichel, the second-overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, in a blockbuster deal on Thursday night that involved five teams. According to league sources, the Sabres were unable to find satisfactory compensation from just one team and needed to engineer a multi-team deal. In the deal, the Sabres traded Eichel, 24, to the Anaheim Ducks for Trevor Zegras, but the Sabres needed more from the deal than just Zegras. Anaheim then traded Eichel and a first-round pick and goaltender John Gibson to the Chicago Blackhawks for centers Alex DeBrincat and Kirby Dach, swapping their third-overall 2021 draft pick with Chicago’s 11th-overall pick, and sent Zegras, Debrincat, Dach, and the 11th pick to Buffalo. As a return for the extra pick, Buffalo sent defenseman Rasmus Dahlin to Anaheim. Anaheim then sent Dahlin to the Toronto Maple Leafs for playoff disappointment forward Mitch Marner and goaltender Jack Campbell, formerly of the USA World Junior Championship team. Anaheim traded Campbell and forward Richard Rakell to Winnipeg for goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, and sent Hellebuyck to Buffalo for goaltending prospect Ukka-Pekka Lukkonen and German prospect John-Jacob Peterka. Buffalo then traded Hellebuyck, Zegras, Debrincat, Dach, the first-overall pick in 2021, and forward Samson Reinhart to Chicago for Eichel.

Then let him remain a Sabre.

She's not socialist in the Stalin sense.

TIL that a poetry slam is a sport. Fishing is sport too.

Half a lifetime ago, I was supposed to go climbing and canoeing with a couple of guys from London. I had a fever because I had gotten lost hiking the day before and the temperature dropped, so I told them that I would go climbing, but that I wasn't getting into the canoe. They had never been in a canoe before and I KNEW they were going to capsize. I also KNEW that they wouldn't listen to me when I told them never to stand in a canoe. They made it back to the lodge, drenched in a 45 degree lake. I stayed warm. I know you're talking kayaks and not canoes, but still, no, don't stand! Dude, there are people in this thread who think that auto racing is a sport. Kayaking actually is, though.

It's Long Island.

There was a class action over this one. The nurse is appealing.

I can't watch anymore. It is late. On the other hand, I get to be a viking:

Remember when? The "three-headed goalie monster" was perceived as a problem. It was a blessing. Miller with the Biron backup was solid. Not as solid as Hasek with Biron, but still. I said just this when I was with my parents on Sunday!

No, he's still alive. EDIT for @Doohickie RIP Simonick still is alive.

And Lehner DID win it. He was the reason. If Vegas is doing this, it is incredibly stupid.

I just don't see this. My mother took me for vaccines and it was, ok, I'm getting a shot in the arm. Mom said so. As for the "these days" stuff, I still can't agree. I know too many parents who take their kids to get various treatments (especially adolescent girls for hep) and it's just normal.

This is so nicely stated. Thank you Zamb.

So. My kid sis had this huge crush on Robert. When Bowman, in a fit of idiocy, traded him for John van Boxmeer, my sister quickly affiliated herself with the Penguins, because Penguins were cute. Of course she grew up and understands that the Sabres are the true team. But it was funny for a year when she was little.

Ugh. Trying to edit the topic. Mods might help. May eternal light shine on 14.
