  1. As it should be. Anyway, back to Johnson; are there any rumblings that he is unhappy with Buffalo and will enter free agency a year from August?
  2. I still think that if the Sabres had told him that he would be the captain the following season, as they should have, he would have wanted to be here. And I, too, am glad Tage is here.
  3. This isn't the right question, with everyone at their present ages and Johnson's apparent unwillingness to sign with Buffalo (he may feel differently about elsewhere, which he can explore soon). The Sabres finally have centers now, have replaced ROR's leadership with Tuch's, and the situations are completely different than they were four years ago. And the Blues got their Cup. Would the Sabres have been a playoff team with ROR as captain? That's the better question. And I think yes. Who knows what O'Reilly could have done as captain of the Sabres. Maybe Mittlestadt would have learned how to play a little earlier. Maybe not.
  4. Enhancing the offense starts in the very back, in goal. With better goaltending, the Sabres can and will be more aggressive. This has been the team's identity since about 1973 and I don't see a reason to change from it.
  5. It is one of the worst trades in Sabres history. Are you kidding? On edit, let us revisit the return: --Tage Thompson, who has had one heck of a season that we all wish he repeats, and who was almost universally bemoaned before October 2021. --Vladimir Sobotka, who was a zero. --Patrilk Berglund, who could play Robert Downey Jr.'s part in "Less than Zero." --A last-first-round pick, Ryan Johnson, who may not ever play for the Sabs. --A way-in-the-future pick (at time of trade) that happened to be swapped, with another Sabres pick, for Colin Miller. For a Conn Smythe winner and captain of a contender thereafter. In what world would you do it again?
  6. That sux but thank you.
  7. You live in Pennsylvania. Why do you care what we are spending our tax dollars on? Do we tell you what Pennsylvania should do? And more to the point, if you think the arena doesn’t need a makeover—not cosmetic surgery but a makeover—you just might qualify to be an NHL ref.
  8. Agreed. But with those odds, I want them in the lottery.
  9. There is a 2.1% chance that they could move into 6 or 7if the season ended today: https://www.tankathon.com/nhl/pick_odds
  10. There is this one guy after Hall...I think his name is John or something. But yes. Agreed.
  11. He didn't want to play hockey. He wanted to make music and clothing. Which is FINE. But he had to ***** on Buffalo after signing that contract. What an *****.
  12. I somehow don't trust Buffalo to turn it into a "nice thing," but 40 years is a long time, and maybe we have matured as a people. I guess give it a shot?
  13. For $30 in the 300s, or for $whatever anywhere, you deserve all of this. Also, ten-year-old me was scared of you adults drinking waxers in SRO at the top of the oranges. I'm not kidding; you guys drinking and smoking did frighten me. Keep that in mind?
  14. You must sit in the 200s. No wonder you knew Chet and Muffy first!
  15. And Olympic Stadium opened in 1976 and collapsed ten years later, and again in 1991, and again in 1999. None of that matters. We're talking (in the wrong thread) about Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park and not Camp Nou. The only reason I brought up the boat is, well, things don't last forever.
  16. Things don't last forever. Like the ship in the other thread, which was replaced and which may now be beyond repair. There's also a stadium thread somewhere, I think. The arena doesn't need to be replaced yet.
  17. They need to add a couple of elevators, too, IMO. The single elevator bank (two elevators) isn't enough to handle the volume of people who require it. (I forgot to put this in my other post.)
  18. The arena is 25 years old and looks like it. Seats are torn, pieces are broken off, paint is chipping, the decor is outdated. None of this adds up to a billion-dollar project--and the arena is used for a LOT more than the football stadium. (I've been there for conferences, banquets, and weddings, for example, where someone paid real dollars to rent the club room and catering...this doesn't happen in Orchard Park.) Before COVID, there were several News articles about how it has become nearly dilapidated. It should be updated.
  19. Like Canada just did...
  20. Nice win. It took every bit of energy for me to stay up for it, but nice win!
  21. And no Doughty.
  22. Is this RJ’s last? And if not, why do i keep seeing ads for that?
  23. I think, someday, he's going to be even *better* than Leopold.
