  1. Here's why attempting to litigate via bullying on twitter is a bad idea: Her attorney strongly implies that it was statutory and not forcible rape with this tweet: His other tweets are even worse.
  2. I don't think that's saying otherwise. "Recently" is a lovely vague word.
  3. All this is is an advertisement in the guise of a blog, but it appears that if she misled him as to her age, that is a defense in California: https://www.cwsdefense.com/blog/2020/june/exceptions-to-californias-statutory-rape-laws/
  4. So we have to distinguish between the civil case and a potential criminal case, in the first instance. Her civil suit is based on allegations of multiple forcible rapes and not statutory rapes. And complaints don't establish anything--they are just allegations. As for the possibility of a potential criminal case based upon statutory rape, I don't know what defenses are available in California...I have NO idea. Her representations could be a defense, his age could be a defense, etc. The age of consent is 18, as you say, though. I don't think there is an issue of fact as to whether some form of sex was had (assuming the kit reveals his DNA). But as above, I don't know whether there are obvious defenses that would militate against prosecution.
  5. Ok, here it is from the actual complaint--keep in mind that complaints are just allegations--without CBS's editing: In NYS it was about three or four months as of last year.
  6. I like it but what in the world is the context? I can't seem to find any news about this except this tweet.
  7. Absolutely. I can't get there yet.
  8. It also differs from what the interviewer read on camera (see the interview that Liger posted). DNA evidence can tell you whether the parties had sex. It won't tell you whether it was consensual.
  9. Books and occasionally sports here. I get it. Either way, we're not sleeping. I mean, it's 10:55 pm right now and my demented brain has me posting here, not sleeping.
  10. We bought three steaks once upon a time.. Three nice 16 oz strips. Grilled ‘em to perfection. The third steak was for breakfast, with eggs, the next morning. For BOTH of us. Next morning, no steak. Had she given it to the dog? No. She—all five foot zero, one hundred ten pounds of her—had eaten it the night before, while I wasn’t looking. So we walked to Elmwood for breakfast, and yeah, I had to buy! Little steak thief!
  11. You are not.
  12. This is gruesome—especially the notion of blood on clothing.
  13. I really hope this didn’t happen.
  14. There's a certain amount of it that just happens; it's still a contact sport.
  15. US 10, Japan 0. Not too surprising. I had Beauts season tickets for a couple of years and didn't notice problems with passing and puck control. Certainly it's slower and there's less hitting, though.
  16. Who is the most recent NHL player to play an entire season without getting penalized even once?
  17. I think it's 1 x 1.5.
  18. Omigosh, I can't fathom what you must be going through. Hang in there.
  19. Unlike the men's version, this contest is actually best-against-best. US is playing Japan right now. I think it is televised on NHLN and TSN, but since I don't receive either, I can't verify that.
  20. Low expectations, here. I've been nothing but optimistic or even shoot-for-the-moon so far, but not every guy will be an All-Star. Pilut will be in Europe or Asia by fall 2023 or maybe 2024, and will not be a major contributor here this coming season.
  21. "Phil the Thrill"? Is/was that a thing? Nothing against the guy, mind you, especially with the way he trolled Toronto media, but is that a thing?
  22. This is brilliant. Malcom Whatever didn't make that play. Carroll did.
  23. There’s no need for this kind of language.
  24. Now this is a fun one. I haven't been as excited about a Sabres forward prospect in FOREVER as I was about Cozens, the minute the Sabres drafted him. And I'm still excited about him. I'm expecting 50 or 60 points, a couple of good fights, a boatload of big checks, and a great season.
