  1. Don't give that person the attention...
  2. Well, that is done. I can debate law, ethics, and morality elsewhere.
  3. VERy close.
  4. That is one.
  5. There was new information on Thursday, for crying out loud. A ton of it. Indeed. And a punter and a red-shirt freshman, too. I have a tough time seeing the ol' athlete cover up here.
  6. Oh, I know you weren't suggesting sympathy. I'm just exclaiming NONE.
  7. Which is because--as he also said--the team received new information yesterday.
  8. No one is mentioning the possibility that the team DID follow up diligently and made a rational and reasonable decision. That's still in bounds, right?
  9. This is way too reasonable a short-term solution for the NFL/PA to have allowed for it in the CBA.
  10. US 6, Finland 1.
  11. A good guess but no.
  12. I do not think it is just to cut a guy because of an allegation. (This is consistent with my thoughts on the Duke lacrosse team, both Kanes, and others, all posted here somewhere.) I realize the team might need to move on for the good of the team, but that does not make it just. The team needs time to investigate. Perhaps the next CBA will provide for something like this.
  13. What are the only two states without an Arby’s? Sponsored by Arby’s, a proud supporter of the USNDP.
  14. Indeed it is! No sympathy. If the league won’t give Mogilny his 50 in 50, screw these guys. Especially Goring.
  15. The answer is Craig Ramsay. He played in all of the Sabres' 78 games in 1973-74, with 0 PIM. Next up: What team holds the record for most consecutive playoff *series* wins?
  16. I'd heard rumors of this. I wish it were the Olympics, but oh well.
  17. I love that shirt.
  18. That's annoying.
  19. Whatever happened or didn't happen last October, I'm calling this right now: There's something wrong with this Gilleon fellow.
  20. Here's why attempting to litigate via bullying on twitter is a bad idea: Her attorney strongly implies that it was statutory and not forcible rape with this tweet: His other tweets are even worse.
  21. I don't think that's saying otherwise. "Recently" is a lovely vague word.
  22. All this is is an advertisement in the guise of a blog, but it appears that if she misled him as to her age, that is a defense in California: https://www.cwsdefense.com/blog/2020/june/exceptions-to-californias-statutory-rape-laws/
  23. So we have to distinguish between the civil case and a potential criminal case, in the first instance. Her civil suit is based on allegations of multiple forcible rapes and not statutory rapes. And complaints don't establish anything--they are just allegations. As for the possibility of a potential criminal case based upon statutory rape, I don't know what defenses are available in California...I have NO idea. Her representations could be a defense, his age could be a defense, etc. The age of consent is 18, as you say, though. I don't think there is an issue of fact as to whether some form of sex was had (assuming the kit reveals his DNA). But as above, I don't know whether there are obvious defenses that would militate against prosecution.
  24. Ok, here it is from the actual complaint--keep in mind that complaints are just allegations--without CBS's editing: In NYS it was about three or four months as of last year.
  25. I like it but what in the world is the context? I can't seem to find any news about this except this tweet.
