Honestly, I think it's too early. There's a fair argument that waiting until the end of the season leaves Adams holding all the cards or whatever, but that argument presupposes that he'd have other offers AND makes the mistaken assumption that there are only two choices, now and June. I have liked a lot of his moves, but there are some missed opportunities, too, and the goaltending situation is still a huge problem several years into his tenure. I would have preferred to see how Comrie works out; if so, extend Adams, if not, see what Adams does to fix it. The early months of 2023 would have been a fine time to evaluate and extend/not.

Yeah, there is that Maple Leaves training camp invite that makes the rounds now and then, I think from 1965, telling them that they're expected to be able to handle 10 pushups or whatever.

I think somewhat? I didn't mean my remark to mean that it was the league doing something stupid, just that it's a little different to have a game three days into camp. Very unlike NFL/MLB.

NHL is crazy. Training camp starts Thursday, and then the first preseason game is three days later?

I wouldn't know where to find a stat like that, but I would have bet it was somewhere in that area. I think they don't understand the difference between being right and having absolute proof on video that they are right.

Miami is good. I said it a few years ago when they drafted Tua and still had stockpiled eleventy billion draft picks: that team was going to be good. And now it is. And I don't think they'll sweep the Bills, but anyone who thinks they're going to be a walkover is fooling themselves. I also have a grim view of tonight. Tennessee just seems to have the Bills' number. Until and unless the Bills can stand up and show they can beat the Titans, I see Tennessee as a tough out no matter who the QB and receivers are. Plus these DL injuries all of the sudden...

The more football I watch, the more I notice how awful a "show" the NFL is. Unless the Bills are playing, it's generally boring to me. Bring on hockey!

Pimlach, I'm right there with you, but you're talking past JohnC. JohnC is saying that Portillo is using the system to his benefit, the best he can, and doesn't blame him. I can't blame Portillo, either. That the system is bad, as you point out, is a different matter.

Everything about that team is so much fun. I gradually find myself leaving my Nationals behind and following Toronto. The games they played in Buffalo last year are a big part of this, BTW.
