  1. A win tonight!! I was unable to see most of it. I'm going to have to go through the thread to see what started the skirmishes at the end of the game. I'm setting an alarm for 11:55pm tomorrow for another GDT. We're on a roll.
  2. Was that even a fight?
  3. The Penguins have been the Sabs' kryptonite for far too long. It ends tonight!
  4. It is, and it's so weird because when I hear that word I think of a burly white dude with a bowler hat and a toothpick in his mouth.
  5. Gare? And this could be about seventeen different Sabres if you just take out the word "Blackhawks."
  6. I just want to know who his hotdog vendor is. Who doesn't love hotdogs? (BESIDES commies.)
  7. This is the perfect example of a game I would have selected when I split seasons with one other guy, too. Weeknight, early, can get Dad in and out of the arena, all that. I really would have loved to go to this one.
  8. That was an annihilation. (I had to sleep for some of it. Such is life.) If anyone starts a GDT before I do in 24 hours and 9 minutes, well, it's on you.
  9. It's Riley Sheahan. They may as well have put Taro and me on waivers.
  10. Let's make it two in a row, Sabres! I expect Comrie in net and Asplund in the lineup.
  11. Well, they have about 24 hours.
  12. Yay! If Asplund is a healthy scratch on Monday, I'm not going to be happy.
  13. I knew Asplund wasn't in the starters' lines at practice. Maybe there really is something wrong with him.
  14. Hey I need two more positive reactions to the first post in this thread to get that pretty green outline thing. Help a fella out? I like the outline.
  15. There's a lot here, much of which I agree with. I haven't been to Nashville, but I've been to NHL games in Washington, NYC, and Toronto recently enough to know that the experience in those arenas is pretty much the same as the experience in Buffalo. Toronto had better fresh food options. And even watching games on TV, you can tell that pretty much every venue has the same package of very loud bad music, stupid sound effects, and "noise meters" on the scoreboard. Even with all the newer restaurants near the Arena, the neighborhood does still have a generic, corporate feel to it, yes, compared to the rest of Buffalo. But that's because Buffalo is a pretty special place with a lot of individualism. The areas around MSG, Capital One, and whatever Toronto's arena is called this week (a problem that also plagues us) are no less generic/corporate, really. Especially MSG; it must be a record for number of Sbarro "pizzerias" in a two block radius.
  16. That's ok. The Sabres had a ten game winning streak in November once. ***** the Bruins.
  17. Sabremike isn't wrong. Having access to playoff tickets really is a HUGE draw for STHs. And this team has been very clear--as were the Bills for a few years--that this is not their moment. The arena sucks, but building a new one isn't the answer. Making it less generic would really help. Turn down the same crappy music that every arena plays, make it a Buffalo experience, don't worry so much about making a 3x profit on the food and focus on serving good stuff, and we're there. These are easy fixes.
  18. I have a good feeling about this one. So I'm starting my first GDT of the season.
  19. How can these two programs afford to play each other?
  20. I liked their play in between the blue lines,* but again, I didn't get to see the whole game. *Barry Melrose taught me in 1994 that this is called the "neutral zone."
  21. I caught a good part of the first and most of the second. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised at the energy level. They weren't dead at all. Granato's rotation theory or whatever remains suspect--he should ice the best team he can every night IMO--but they didn't look terrible. You can just say it. It'll be ok. You miss him.
  22. They haven't had a fair shot?! Did I actually hear that?
