  1. Six games in, winning record, solid west coast road trip, team hasn't looked this good in 15 years, and here we go with 'The Power Play is a Problem". Capitalized and everything.
  2. When you can roll two quality veterans with your top forward prospect on the fourth line, that's a sign of a good team.
  3. Crazy that this record stands at just 4 freaking games after a century of seasons. Borque, Coffey, Lidstrom, Niedermeyer, Bobby freaking Orr? Nobody???
  4. Hasek (top 10), Perrault (top 25), and Housley (could be anywhere) should all make it. I want to think LaFontaine and Hawerchuk make it if Zetterberg did, but it's a crowded field. Mogilny and Andreychuk probably don't get the nod.
  5. 70-save shutout in the 4th OT. No, that's not possible. Or is it?
  6. Not sure I agree with this, as much as I love Ryan Miller. Oh well, congrats to him on a great career - I have bigger problems than this.
  7. I lived out of market and didn't own a TV from 1996-2011, but I still made it to the bar once in a while to watch, particularly during the Briere/Drury era. But honestly, my best "Sabres" memory from that era was Hasek winning the '98 Nagano Olympics by himself. My interest waned pretty hard after July 1, 2007. The team clearly had no chance being built around Vanek. I pretty much stopped watching altogether somewhere around Eichel's 2nd year. The team was just unwatchable to me, and beyond the Sabres losing, I felt that the NHL game overall had become far less exciting. I'll be honest, I miss the brawls and the face-washings. And if I hear 'Let Me Clear My Throat' one more time, I swear... I literally just started watching them again a few weeks ago. I guess you can call me a fair-weather fan, but at the same time I have never stopped watching the Bills, no matter how bad they have been. I guess a bad football team is somehow less pathetic than a bad hockey team.
  8. I'd call it a win-win. St. Louis got the Cup, therefore they did not lose. Buffalo may end up getting a better player for more years, therefore they also did not lose. But to answer the OP question, No, Tage is not better than ROR, YET. He's got a long way to go to prove that.
  9. Spacek also came close with 45 points in 2008-9. Everyone forgets how good he was!
  10. Two points to Winnipeg pushes them closer to contention for Vegas' playoff spot...
  11. The Sabres made no trades because nobody wants any of their available players. Seriously, what is any NHL team going to give the Sabres for Cody Eakin?
  12. Hey, Jack - there's a reason you don't know what a good crowd sounds like in Buffalo. You captained the worst and most underperforming teams in Sabres history. The fans never saw their team register an inspired performance in your time here. Your whole tenure was a buzz-kill for the city, and the arena was like a morgue.
  13. Wow, really! I was just throwing that out there because he was the only person scoring for a while.
  14. That was the worst team I have ever seen take the ice for the Sabres, and that's saying a lot. The Islanders were toying with them the entire game. The Sabres couldn't get possession of the puck, and if they ever did, it was swiftly taken away. A total embarrassment.
  15. I have family in the Beverly Woods/Southpark area, southern 'burbs, and it's quite pleasant. It's a great area for kids and there is a lot of friendly neighborhood interaction. It's convenient to anything you need in your day to day. I don't know what your idea of expensive is, but I think this area is what most people these days consider reasonable for a nice neighborhood ($450K can get you a decent house, and you can find nice townhouses for $325K). I think you'll have a hard time finding anything under that in the nice neighborhoods all around Charlotte. Not sure about surrounding communities, but real estate is just crazy lately. I continue to be shocked at what people consider a reasonable home price these days!
  16. Yeah, I haven't watched a lot of games this year, but I watched last night and could not believe how bad Dahlin was in just about every phase of the game. About the only thing he has going for him is the little puck drag move he does to evade a checker at the point. But that's it. He's slow to the puck, no hustle, no physicality; then he makes sloppy passes that get picked off, and has zero initiative on offense. He still looks like a boy among men out there, and at 6'3" and 207 lb. with 3+ years of NHL experience, his age is not a valid excuse. I think he is what he is - JAG, with a few fancy moves that rarely make a difference in a real game.
  17. Nice interview, but he didn't answer the question. Things went sideways long before he asked to be traded in 2020. I'd like to know what he has to say about why his team was so talented, yet so terrible for his entire six year tenure.
  18. I guess I don't understand the future considerations part. We took a burden off their hands - don't they owe us something in return?
  19. Not an amazing return, but honestly, if Tuch becomes a steady contributor and any of the picks/Krebs turn into NHL players, I'll be happy enough. Eichel was captain and star player on a team loaded with talent for six years, and all they ever did was suck out loud, year after year. He may have tons of talent, but he never once proved to be a winner in the NHL. That said, I am 100% prepared for him to win nine Cups in Vegas, score 50 goals a year, and retire as the greatest player of his generation, because Buffalo.
  20. I think Granato is the real deal, whereas Kreuger was a used car salesman - all talk and ego, no substance.
  21. I love that they scored the first EN goal immediately after the face-off, from long distance no less. This team knows how to stick the dagger in and seal a win, which we haven't seen in 15 years around here. Up 3-1, they were still playing smart and aggressive.
  22. Poor kid.
  23. 'Titanic' is the first thing that comes to mind.
