The Devils' offense has been rather impotent, scoring just 1 goal in 4 out of their last 6 games. That, in combination with the greatest netminder of all time injured, renders them pretty toothless. I imagine the Sabres will still find a way to give up 40 shots and score just once though.

Well we've split two ugly 4-3 games with the conference's worst team (by winning % anyway). I like the two points, but a win against the Devils would do a lot to convince me that this mini streak is more than a dying gasp.

We need the Vanek line to get off their mini-slump. I don't see allowing the Penguins any fewer than 4 goals based on how our blue liners have been playing all season.

I just think it doesn't necessarily need explanation. Given a tiny sample size of 3 or 4 games, no result is all that improbable. If Carolina had a 40% chance of winning each of those individual games (for argument's sake), then they had roughly a 3% chance of winning all 4. In other words, about as likely as a blue liner's shot from the point scoring.

Isn't it strange how quickly things change? Just two years ago, Ovechkin would have been the most common answer, now he's probably not even in my top 20. Are we taking age, mileage and injury risk into account, or just assuming the player is healthy and in his prime? I'd say Crosby with health and Tavares with everything considered.

It is curious that Pegula couldn't see Ruff's message was losing traction. I mean, if he's a fan, that should be a good thing. Shouldn't that mean that he shares all the frustrations? If anything, you'd think a passionate owner would err to the trigger happy side in terms of firings. EDIT: "Shame on them." is a bit much. It's poor judgment, nothing more.
