  1. its hard to listen for more than 10 minutes at a time. it hurts my soul to hear the nonsense that passes as commentary
  2. if the pieces you get in return for Ott are what you need to flip around and complete a bigger deal, you make that deal.
  3. why hasnt he bought a small 3rd world country and grow his own coffee, whats his 'agenda' ACCOUNTABILITY!!!!! dey took er jerbssss
  4. I like the concept of picks NOW
  5. No a 5th rounder is worth less than a 2nd, and a 5th round players barely make the league. Even if we assumed a discount for "time" it wouldnt bring the values up to make this a loser compared to Leo
  6. no reason too. Not making playoffs, obviously not re-signing him. Get something instead of nothing. It's what the Patriots have done to make themselves a viable franchise for a long time. Dump dead weight for picks which provide flexibility.
  7. little value now that grows pretty quick.
  8. thats not how it works though. Its not useless, at all.
  9. 2 seconds have double the chance of producing an NHL player...
  10. The never ending debate. Neither data nor eyeballs can paint the whole picture. its both.
  11. This is my thinking. he didnt buy this team and invest crap tons of $$ to sit back and hope some late rounds picks in a few years develop into NHL talent by 2020.
  12. what makes the deal awful all of a sudden?
  13. unless the plan is to flip them..... we can only hope.
  14. Rumor is that there's a roster spot in a no contact league, 29 is interested.
  15. I am also against the stockpiling picks, I think people are over valuing them especially considering they take a few years to contribute outside of the top 5.
  16. Not to mention he has another yr on his contract, which Goose didnt.
  17. or Leino, yet but he was dinged up.
  18. I dont necessarily subscribe to the belief that no trades will be made if DR is going to get canned. These trades aren't made in a vacuum or by DR alone. If there is a good offer available they are going to pull the trigger, regardless of his status once the offseason rolls around. We know DR is already talking to teams.
  19. Did you watch those games? He was awful and it was not just because the team in front of him.
  20. Yea found his comments enlightening. Also mentioned team and good young talent. He had to leave before I could much more but he was def a few deep.
  21. Ran into a NHL asst coach at a bar recently: his thoughts on Sabres Stafford: major issue, needs to go but many teams wont touch him. Miller: doesn't scare anyone but solid goalie Vanek: good but not dynamic Pommers: great player, dont trade him. He said these things as if they were commonly known. Take it for what its worth.
  22. There are many lawyers as GMs in sports, the Bucs won a Super bowl with a lawyer GM right before Lightning did. You're making the presumption that a GM has to be a jack of all trades....they arent. Feaster handles the business side and has hockey experts around him. The Bills for example use Football guys as GM and asst GM and a business guy to handle contract negotiations. Feaster, btw, built the Hershey Bears, part of the reason he was executive of the year. With the Lightning he was in charge of scouting,.... you know, building the team. That's why a few years later the NHL GMs voted him executive of the year. Lawyers obviously suck at being GM
  23. He's been in hockey for over 20 years, and was named executive of the year in the AHL and NHL ...
