  1. Aw, cheer up, Charlie! At this point I don't expect playoffs; setting expectations is not something you can do as a Buffalo Bills fan. But there'll be a heck of a good reason to watch. It should be exciting. Edit: Should have said plenty of good reasons to tune in. Can Easley make an impact? How will the O-line do? How much of an impact will Mario make with respect to the entire defense? Fitzy back after an entire season under the gun, will he improve? And of course we'll have some new draft picks after next month as well. Also edit: thanks for the updates on Freddie contract stuff, guys. I have been out of the loop!
  2. Don't they still have to sign Fred Jackson? Without him, the offense still has some serious holes. Also, I guess that the Bills are done in free agency. It's tough to complain, but still too many holes to fill entirely through the draft (2nd WR, OT, OLB, depth at LB, depth in the secondary, depth on D-line) to be supremely confident. (They have depth at WR, RB, and arguably on the O-line... backup QB is an issue, don't forget!) As I said, tough to complain. I don't think I've ever been this excited for the NFL season so early!
  3. Last weekend I acquired the phone number of a nice Japanese-American female. That's not really the relevant part. The relevant part is that I couldn't quite pronounce her last name, which was four syllables and ending in the letter O; so, she is now in my phone under "Tsujimoto". F'n Fantastic?
  4. Since the last F'N Fantastic Friday, I have defended my Masters thesis, moved to Austin, TX, and purchased a new car. First day of work is coming on Monday. F'N Fantastic! For those playing at home, I ended up with a 2009 Toyota Corolla. 55k miles, $10,700. Nothing fancy, in great condition, the only other owner had a well-documented history of the car (just oil changes, etc.)... And oh yeah, manual transmission too, even though I don't know how to drive it yet. Anyway, thank you all for the advice!
  5. There was touch by the Houston player on Ed Reed as they went up for the ball. If Reed's own momentum carries him (untouched) into the endzone, he can stay there for the touchback. In this case, since he was touched, it is treated like 'forward progress stopped' at the 4-yard line, as someone mentioned.
  6. Thanks, guys. I plan on going to dealerships. It seems most have the Carfax available by default. And what's the word on "certified pre-owned"? You think getting a third-party mechanic involved even with a dealership is necessary? Korab -- I actually meant Mazda (not Nissan), any word on Mazdas? And as far as Hyundai goes, the 2010 consumer reports guide has got great reviews on most Hyundai models. Cheaper and pretty basic cars, what's not to like (seriously... I have gotten a few recommendations on them)? Kia... I don't trust, haha. Acura is also another make that's on my mind. Also I have heard that I can get much better price by saying up front my goal price which I can pay entirely on site right now. Truth? Thanks again...
  7. Good question! You got advice? :flirt: I'm looking at used, maybe in the 2006-2010 range. Spending $12k max, but hoping to get something for less (could pay up front if I could swing ~$9000). Really, I just want something that will be reliable for maybe six years (or until I own a house with a garage to put a new car in). And I don't need anything fancy; probably just a sedan that's not tiny and that is decent on gas. I'm looking at Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, Nissan... I'm not really set on anything particular so I'm pretty open to suggestions. :) Maybe I need to go digging for d4rk's domestic/foreign threads, eh? Edit: Good luck, Liger. And congrats, Shrader, that is certainly Fantastic!
  8. Actually, wouldn't he be the 56.72%? Nice job, CDX! As for me, I'm finally defending my Masters here in a couple weeks and everything is in place and on schedule. Then I'm moving and starting a new job, and I can't wait for a fresh start! I also get to go car shopping in a couple weeks, mmmmmmm. F'N Fantastic! Oh, and the gym finally opened back up on campus here this week, w00t!
  9. For those of you drooling over Robert Griffin III, he'll be entering the NFL draft next year. http://espn.go.com/nfl/draft2012/story/_/id/7410307/heisman-winner-robert-griffin-iii-baylor-bears-enter-nfl-draft-sources-say Matt Barkley had decided to stay his last year at USC. Bills ain't drafting a QB though, so meh. Also a hyopthetical rules question. If a player gets flagged for excessive celebration after an apparent TD, but then upon review, the TD is taken away, what happens? Penalty is just ignored? Or does the defensive team have to decline the penalty in order to send the TD back?
  10.............................................. On the topic of Dave Grohl, I was a huge fan of Nirvana in high school as well. I haven't really paid attention to new music in close to a decade now, but I'll say that the Foo Fighters are one of a few have still been putting out great music!
  11. Nice. Did you see them at Verizon Center in November? I had a few friends who went to that one and said it was fantastic! Dave Grohl announcing something along the lines of "I hope none of you have work in the morning, because we're gonna rock all f***in' night!" :worthy: I won the Wembley Stadium DVD in a contest at a bar or something last winter, but I have yet to sit down and watch it. I'll have to make a better effort to get around to it sooner! This is funny timing too, as I've been listening to them a bunch the past two days. I have mostly "Big Me" stuck in my head as well as this one, a beauty!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jF9y6ouhTYI
  12. Cool, yeah I'm in Blacksburg right now, 20 minutes up the road from Blacksburg, but I'm moving in three weeks. Outdoors stuff aplenty, plus springtime comes early. Good luck! And I hear ya on the up and move to get away thing. Hope you figure it all out, Liger.
  13. When I lived in Pittsburgh, it was kind of just the beer that was always on hand. It's easy to drink. It goes well with food. No one really dislikes it -- ever spend 20 minutes trying to figure out which cheap beer to buy because one person in the group hates every crappy option? Personally, I do consider a step above Budweiser, Coors, etc. Not a huge step. For what it's worth, I'm a big Genny fan too, probably only because it's local.
  14. Haha. I ate so many while I was home in Rochester that I refused to take any with me when I left. And now I'm going through withdrawal.
  15. Haha. I'm all for a good, harsh TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWW serenade. I just don't think he deserves/has earned the hatred that accompanies the "sucks". Maybe I'm just getting soft. :(
  16. Hmm. For what it's worth, I got to Gate 5 at probably about 12:40 and had no problem getting to my seats in the upper level in time. Although the "wanding" did seem a bit over the top. Oh yeah, and the "Tebow sucks!" chants...... not classy. Also, we saw a dude with a new home Bills jersey that had "AWESOME" as the name plate, with the number 1. (Looks like http://sickjerseybro.blogspot.com/ hasn't been updated in a couple years.) At one point my little brother was behind the guy at the urinal and took a picture of it with his cell phone. Wildly inappropriate.
  17. Fun game today. We estimated 53,000 at the stadium, although I think that may be a little high. At least 40,000 though. Do they always play "Enter Sandman" when the players come out now at the Ralph?
  18. :) Nope, only a Tech student for my Masters. If I had gone to a big Division I school for undergrad, I most certainly would've done marching band though. On a related note, they played Enter Sandman when they introduced the players at the Ralph this afternoon, and I had to do a WTF wave. For how long have they been doing that? Perhaps a subject for another thread...
  19. Nice, looks like fun! My brother and I both play trombone, so I got a book of Christmas duets for trombone this year. I arrived home in Rochester tonight in time for a brief rehearsal before serenading our relatives on Christmas Day. Merry Christmas everyone! Be sure to take the time to reflect on what is truly important to you this holiday season. :)
  20. I'm really regretting not returning home for Christmas early enough to make it to the Fins game tomorrow. Miami@Buffalo in December is always a treat. I'm anticipating a win tomorrow, even though there's obviously very little evidence to support this. I will be making it for Tebowmania on Saturday, though. I assume there will be very poor attendance for both games this week.
  21. No worries, thanks for the tip! If I ever was to be in Baltimore on a gameday again, I'd definitely return, so long as I can get there ahead of time and make sure to get the Sabres on a TV.
  22. I went to Slainte in Fells Point in Baltimore for the game last night and thought I'd report back. It's a small place, seating for maybe 40. There are three TV's at the bar. A couple decent beers on tap, including Heavy Seas. Unfortunately I got there at about 7:15 and they were just in the process of deciding which three NHL games people wanted to watch, so Sabres-Sens was not chosen. Their food was nothing to brag about.
  23. Perfect timing! I was just wondering if there was a thread like this because I'm looking for somewhere in Baltimore for Tuesday's game. And apparently I already asked upthread where in Baltimore would be a good place to find a game. I will try to check out Slainte, as tulax pointed out in reply.
  24. Your wish is my command: It's like he doesn't know how to hit clean. But I'll say that Ponikavovsky had his down, which really makes it tough to make it clean. I don't know... All these scenarios with the suspensions and everything are really confusing me as to how to cleanly hit a guy.
  25. Hey cool, I hope to join you as an alumni within two months. The lockdown is over. The police aren't really talking, but it sounds like a police officer pulled the suspect over for a routine traffic stop. The officer was shot, then the suspect fled on foot and shot himself about a quarter mile away. Thanks for the kind words, all.
