Is that true? Can someone expand on this?

I'm not sure if you are actually looking for a response, but... AHL front offices prefer the weekend games for increased attendance on those nights. A quick glance at ECHL scheduling shows that they too have back2back2backs. As for these Amerks, it will be interesting to see if they can carry any momentum into the playoffs (after a hypothetical berth, of course). I'll say that they would benefit hugely from claiming the 7th seed rather than the 8th seed, as the Texas Stars have clinched the top seed and are riding an eleven-game win streak. The Stars are a scoring machine, featuring the most 'goals for' in the AHL. Although, personally, since I live in Austin, I would be thrilled to see the Amerks play a series down here.... The Amerks finish their regular season Wed, Fri, Sat this coming week.

10 on Buffalo, please. In jest, of course. Hank... well-played. You're a bully!
-
Holy shnikes........ Minnesota wins it 2-1 on a goal with 0.5 seconds left.... seemed like everyone was looking ahead to OT!
-
Good luck, 11. With a Sabres win, 11 is winning by some ridiculous amount. With a Rangers win, Hank is at 5920, and I'm second at a meager 3510.

As for the original question.... having a southern or western US doesn't really make sense with the current teams. See: http://en.wikipedia....ey_League#Teams Since Houston left (for Iowa last year), there are now only the three "southern" teams downs here (Austin, San Antonio, and OKC). (Note: Texas is not "The South"... it's just... Texas.) Abbortford (way over in British Columbia) is all f**ky. And Charlotte get the shaft being in the West division with Texas teams + Abbotsford. The North Division (Amerks) gets the shaft being lumped in with the West division and the Midwest division (thus constituting the Western Conference). I don't see a good way around it, though. Maybe the new Thunder Bay team joins the West division and Charlotte can be lumped in with Norfolk et al.

Yup, moving the team from St. Johns, Newfoundland to Thundey Bay, Ontario. Looks like 8 hours east on Winnipeg. Some quick research yields that they should have two more seasons in NF, as True North plans on building a new arena in Thunder Bay. http://www.icethetics.co/blog/2014/2/3/st-johns-icecaps-set-to-move-to-thunder-bay

Who said this was going to be fun? I've been contemplating this all day here.... I'm going to keep things interesting. I'm at 2210, bet 1400 (seven units) on Detroit.

The ones that would/should/could be playing in Rochesterfor additional 1+ weeks after Sunday.

Exactly.... if the Amerks can sneak into the playoffs, then all these kids can go back down and do their thing. If Amerks don't play til Friday, Makarov can play in Buffalo Tuesday, and that gives the Sabres til Friday to find some dummy to back up Hackett? (so that Makarov can play in Rochester on Friday.) What kinda dummies are to be had these days, anyway? Edit: Using ESPN Fantasy to search for FA goalies, they still list the likes of Hasek, CuJo, Olie the Goalie, Joeclyn Thibault, Kevin Weekes, to name a few  Rochester also plays Friday April 11 (three nights in a row).... do AHL goalies ever play back-to-back-to-back?

I will be camping this weekend, so no interwebs for me; 1200 on the Sabres for Saturday, please. Yes, I'm assuming they'll be the underdog.
