  1. Ah... I was wondering who that was..... you and I both have predicted CHI over NYR in the finals.... Good luck to you, I guess!
  2. I thought PhD was talking about Dubnyk? That said... I can't imagine Minnesota matching Chicago and beating them four times. I also don't think Montreal can score enough to beat the Rangers four times (if they both make it to ECF).
  3. Finalists for Calder Trophy: Gaudreau, Ekblad, Stone.
  4. Nice. I have BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering. But if I had known earlier what Computer Science was, I would have DEFINITELY gone for it. If you want to program, just do CS!! I've been slowly getting more on the software side of things, but it'd've been way easier if I'd just gotten a BS in CS. And I'd be making a ton more money. Oh and now I'm an engineering contractor, mostly software but getting my hands dirty in the mechanical and electrical side for sure.
  5. Did anyone else notice the announcers' demeanor after Hayes' OT winner? They were just speechless... clearly disappointed that their precious Penguins lost... didn't try to hide it... it was awkward and embarrassing.
  6. Nice. 40 participants in the SabreSpace "League"... 29 of those picked Anaheim correctly for +10 each, and 6 of those picked the 4-game series correctly for the +3 bonus.
  7. I, too, am very interested in the @TEN game. I may attempt to go to the Virginia Tech home game Friday night Oct 9 and then scoot over to Nashville for Saturday and Sunday.
  8. BU's coach was on WGR this morning and mentioned that Jack worked hard at it this year, since he knew it was a weakness coming into college. Not sure where it is, but: http://www.wgr550.com/BU-Coach-Quinn-Eichel-is-ready-for-NHL/21396006 By the way, coach said he'd not try to convince Jack to stay at BU, since he thinks Jack is NHL-ready.
  9. Lack gave up 4 goals on 28 shots last night in the Game 3 loss to the Flames. I only saw a bit of it, so I'm not sure if he truly had a bad game or what. Any rumblings of playing Miller tomorrow?
  10. Yeesh... Almost four years ago now.... when we signed Leino on July 1, 2011..... Pegula had bought the Sabres in February 2011, and this was the desperation move to win the Cup quick with the core of SGM's. That was when it hit me.
  11. I agree with those saying that a bit of luck is involved in order to WIN a cup. However, it is reasonable to anticipate having a contender for an extended period of, say ten years. How about, for ten seasons starting in 2017 (or perhaps 2018): At least 9 playoff appearances At least 6 ECSF At least 3 ECF At least 2 SCF Cup victory is icing on the cake Would anyone complain about that? 20 Sabres playoff series in ten years? Do we need to win a Cup to "define" the "tank" as a success?
  12. Yeah... I'm a little afraid that we (Sabres fanbase) will get so jacked up for Eichel that if we do end up winning the lottery and drafting McDavid, it'll be kinda awkward.
  13. Hehehe. How about: The "meddling" Kim Pegula???
  14. mmmmmmmmm... that's a good read.
  15. Bump. It was hard to re-locate this topic with a search, by the way...... So, what was the consensus on... Chum Hustler(?)'s... fate? Buy him out this offseason? How exactly does that work these days? Does he have a spot on this team for 2015-16? By the way.... including Hodgson, we have 10 forwards signed for next season as of now. Add in Reinhart and McEichel, and Grigorenko and Larsson need to be signed as RFA's.... that'd be 14. See: http://stats.nhlnumbers.com/teams/BUF?year=2015
  16. Good call, LGR. I'm thinking about going to the Bills game in Nashville this fall; it would be really tempting if there is a Saturday evening Preds game to pair it with.
  17. I can't find a link right now but... I heard that there are THREE ways to vote, all of which you can do 50 times per day (for a maximum of 150 times per day). Voting on website is one way, texting is another way... and I don't recall the third. Edit --- If you click on East Aurora at the main page, https://kraft.promo.eprize.com/hockeyville/#, it lists the three ways:
  18. Looks like he is set to return tomorrow for Game 1.
  19. Surprised it wasn't mentioned.... at the start of the second period, he won the faceoff and dished in assist in 4 seconds!
  20. And at the high school level as well! Yessir; while I do agree with most here that they sha'n't last long in the playoffs, I am very happy to see Calgary keep pulling out these wins. They clinched with the win over the Kings tonight. I have admired their fanbase the past few years... the Saddledome is always rocking... and they always seem to have >50% of fans wearing home jerseys. I wish I had a complete video of the Calgary feed, but here's the last ~minute of that game:
  21. Yup.... assigning 50% likelihood of those 7 independent events gives 2^-7 = 1/128 = 0.78125% chance right there!
  22. Didn't they make an attempt at this coming out of the 2004-05 lockout? What happened?
  23. http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/23054-nhl-draft-lottery-simulator/ GUYS I JUST TOOK ONE FOR THE TEAM AND RAN THE SIMULATOR 10,000 TIMES AND GUESS WHAT?? THE LOAFS GOT MCDAVID 3,123 TIMES!!!! ARE WE DOOMED????? It's certainly a neat little tool, but no need to take it seriously. Carrion, Cereal
  24. As fun as it would be to knock the Pens out, I would would be more amused to see the Bruins miss out on the playoffs
