  1. Get some dirt on that thing, man! Are there decent mtb trails near you?
  2. Nice. Also, on Buffalo hosting a future ASG: Mike Harrington ‏@BNHarrington 1h1 hour ago @MrMomforNow 1978. As discussed here yesterday, zero chance. Inadequate convention space for ancillary activities. Potatooooo, are you alive, man? I'd like to hear your perspective on everything you took in.
  3. Ducks@Caps postponed tonight due to the weather. This could go in the weather thread, but meh.
  4. Haha. Yes to all three :D True freshman = actual freshman Redshirt freshman = sophomore who sat out his freshman year. His sophomore year of school would be his freshman year of eligibility. So, yes, I suppose you could say Larkin and Samson are red-shirt freshmen if you wanted ;)
  5. What makes them red-shirt? Sounds like Samson will return after the all-star break (per Sylvester and Peters).
  6. Here I am last night after a 5-mile run in Rochester, Day #2 of marathon training.... This will be my first time training completely through the Rochester winter, since moving back here from Texas last February. It is horribly frustrating. Maybe the comedic value of this post can provide at least some form of justification that living in this kind of climate is worth it...
  7. Tough to disagree with ya. Is he doing away games again now this year? He announced the @Winnipeg game last Sunday, and I meant to investigate. Anyone know?
  8. Yeesh, it's been longer than I thought on this thread. And I could swear we had a larger one somewhere. Trivia Question: Aside from Buffalo, what other U.S. City is home to exactly 1 NHL team, 1 NFL team, and neither an NBA nor an MLB team? You may not need to dig toooo deep to find the answer, but it is still interesting that only one other sports town like ours exists! Edit: Hint , if you want it:
  9. Zemgus is playing, per MSG broadcast
  10. Maybe not as bad as I recall: Lehner looks massive. He's a tall boy. Very loud, booming voice on the ice, too. By the way, the Amerks won 5-4.
  11. Lehner looked bad on the second, third, and fourth goals last night :(
  12. Based on Bylsma's comments, it SOUNDS like Lehner should start for Rochester tonight and Sunday, and Pysyk should play Fri-Sat-Sun, but do we have any official word from the Amerks? I'll be there tonight. My brother and I created a new Christmas tradition of buying each other ridiculous hockey jerseys off of ebay, and then we have to wear them to an Amerks game together. I'll be in the Austin Ice Bats sweater.
  13. Regarding the veggies d4rk mentioned - that's bang on. On my Google Tasks list is a task that reads: Eat a wide variety of lightly processed foods At a previous job I was notorious for my fruit/veggie drawer in the fridge. Always filled, sometimes nine different fruits/veggies per workday... makes you feel great, and gives you energy! (My favorite after a solid weekend of drinkin/fried food/tailgating/etc. is to load up on berries for a couple days to cleanse my poor body.) Another task on my list is: EAT TO RUN (not run to eat) This may apply more directly to some than others... but, in marathon training, or daily exercise, or whatever, you should be fueling your body AHEAD OF TIME in order to have the energy available for the next workout/long run/etc. While you do need some carbs and protein to rebuild your muscles pretty immediately following exercise, it is unnecessary to use a solid workout/etc. as an excuse to binge/go crazy AFTERWARD.
  14. Well, consider recruiting. The ACC gets ripped as the weakest of the Power 5 conferences. A bit of success in the spotlight for the conference can stifle that criticism. More national media exposure for Clemson, and the ACC as a whole, is a good thing in attracting top high school recruits. I suppose that a fan of an SEC team may not as high of a concern with this, since the SEC has such a good track record and is universally viewed as the top conference in college football.
  15. Oooh, there's a thread for this! I like the SEC in general, but my lady is a Michigan State grad, so I'm certainly pulling for Sparty. I am a grad of an ACC school, so I'm rooting for Clemson. The ACC especially needs a Clemson victory after yuck losses by Florida State and UNC (not to mention Pitt, NC State, and Miami).
  16. JJ -- Nice! I've got a couple solid Choice Ribeyes for this evening as well, although not as honkin' as those maf's. I'm a bit of a scrooge for the NYE "holiday". A bit of a fabricated holiday... kinda like Valentine's Day. Besides, the liturgical new year has already begun! I actually went to bed before midnight the past two years. (It helped being in the central time zone.) This year, I'll be takin' it easy, just watchin' the Michigan State game and grillin' steak. Be safe tonight, y'all.
  17. https://twitter.com/pham1717/status/681513132691472384 http://www.wgr550.com/Sabres-Kane-speaks-about-his-weekend-incident/22315695 Evander Kane will play tonight
  18. A few quick observations from last night's shootout loss to Utica (Vancouver): I was not impressed with Nick Baptiste. He didn't seem to work hard to backcheck or position himself. Didn't seem very quick. Pleasantly surprised by Evan Rodrigues. Constantly in motion, moving quick. Excellent goal on a 2-on-1 where he waited... waited... shot instead of passing. As a team, the 'merks were pretty awful in the neutral zone, and moving it out of the defensive zone. It kinda just looked like they never played together before, or didn't have a plan. 2 PP goals, but failing to score in an extended 5-on-3 time in the second period came back to bite them. Utica had a double-minor penalty, then two additional minors all piled up.
  19. Nice find. Apparently it's a big thing! Good article with quotes and a link to the artist's work: http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/blue-jackets-game-day-posters-are-hockeys-best-new-thing/
  20. Grigs is just filling in for Landeskog during his suspension
  21. I am in Orlando for a wedding yesterday, and it so happened that the USWNT was playing a friendly versus Brazil here at the Citrus Bowl!... a bit of a "Victory Tour" for the champs. I ended up going to the game, and it was a ton of fun. Lots of families, great weather, and they won 3-1. Truth be told, though, Brazil was outplaying them for a solid majority of the game. Brazil did not bury their chances. Hope Solo played well in goal. Man, you can really see the game better in person than on TV, e.g., seeing the ball's trajectory, seeing the speed of the players.
  22. In the arena on Thursday.... It was a cornocopia of emotions.... Eichel roofs it.... freakin HERE WE GO NOW comes blaring on.... It was absolutely hilarious! Perhaps in a good way? Anyway, it WAS very loud, and it DID get all the fans into it, including myself. I just don't know if it will stick. The concensus seemed to be: 18000 rabid animals whoopin' and hollerin' like one giant ridiculous celebration.. ehhhh ok let's roll with it! We shall see. For what it's worth... wearing Sabres garb in Virginia and Tennessee the past two days... I HAVE received unprovoked praises in both states for now having the best goal song in the league. It seems that the NHL general public widely approves ;)
  23. The JUMP part at 16 seconds reminds me so much of Wisoncsin's Jump Around (thought it was the same for awhile): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veHQMaxiOmg&t=51s start at 51s
