it was all Golisano.. I think Everyone new this to be true.. The original Ownership was the Knox brothers. They eventually had an ownership partnership and the team was heading to bankruptcy in 1997 and the Knox's and ownership partnership had to sell Rigas owned the team when Hasek was leading us to the 1999 championship. Fact was we failed to buy some goal scoring help at the deadline for Hasek. Another missed opportunity to win a championship. Rigas could of easily wrote another loan off the books of Adelphia cable to get us over the top.. I mean the guy and his family had taken 3.1 billion from Adelphia completely off the books.. Why he couldn't of helped the Sabres with that crooked money is a mystery.. What would another $25 mil off the top be at that point The NHL ran the Buffalo Sabres for almost a year until things were settled and Pegulas stepped in Bottom line is the Sabres are beyond lucky to even still exist considering how we had 2 really owners in a row who trashed this team.. In hindsight it should of been a lot lot lot worse that it is.

Impossible for me to rate this draft.. Probably a B if I were to toss a grade at it. Its a B because we got no short term help. This draft was all about 3- 5 years down the road. SO to be upset about not drafting a defenseman early doesn't hold much water. I'm sure J Bo is aware of the need to get some D man into our system.. How he handles that will be what we all are watching

Those 1st rd picks will take years to be ready so even if they all turnout to be great pros it will be 4 or 5 years before that all comes to fruition. They have an entire minor league team to build as well for depth and 3 1st rd picks will help that but its going to be extremely hard for an expansion team to become a playoff contender in short time... and if 1st rd picks were the only key to long term sucess why did 3 teams offer their 1st rd pick just to get a player off their books much ado about nothign.. Vegas seems to be doing things well but they won't be contenders for some time

Housley wants to instill passion. I would of been more impressed if he had said he wanted to work towards a winning culture and recapture passion because losing will suck the passion out of anyone... Winning feeds passion.. working hard and failing makes something fun more like work. Guess I'm just tired of cliche crap.. I like that he is a good communicator and has lots of experience. Tocchet or Housley. Both are good with communication and are top candidates. Either will do IMO... But when it comes to politics religion and sports.. If we can trade our #8 for a NHL ready D man then that is what we need to do We have no time to wait for a #8 D pick to be NHL ready this year. We best be looking at teams who have plenty of salary cap issues and desperate for draft picks there are a few we should be able to get a good D man

Who the hell has been dissing Eichel. I find his brash honesty refreshing and feel he is the teams true captain but just being on Bills and Sabres forums its easy to see how we will never succeed with our fans. Our fans are to over the top vocal and to many have no lives outside sports to point where i play less and less attention to the teams because i have to deal with the fans If I'm Jack i tell everyone to bite me and prepare to leave the city. Moulson and Gorges were vets used who kept us at the cap floor for a few years. They were always going to be future purges, and that was planned. Cap hit doesn't even phase me because I actually knew why the contract were given to them in the 1st place Maybe I'm missing something but we are no where near cap troubles. (We have $25 million open this offseason. ) . Sam has a better market do to his youth and no off ice incidents Sam didn't impress me this year, and Kane although a pain was still one of our top scorers.. SO I think Sam could be traded for the top D man we need to acquire
