This is probably a fair characterization. -

I know, and I'm somewhat resigned to that. But Tank's post seems to suggest it's not everywhere, when it really is. And you're probably right that it's unavoidable in a lot of cases (trade threads especially), but it's too much sometimes. Case in point (from the Girgensons injury thread): Not necessary. -

... and the Girgensons injury thread, and the Kane trade thread, and the trade speculation threads.... it's EVERYWHERE. -
I think this might be related to the upgrade since I didn't notice it before, but some of the emoticons still don't work. Namely: clapping :clapping: yawn  pirate :pirate:

Exactly... the answer to the multiple choice question that is "How to win a Stanley Cup?" is not necesssarily A, but "all of the above". I would love for this to happen. I'm just tired of the insinuations that the anti-tankers are idiots simply because we hold a different view than the pro-tankers. Neither of us are necessarily right, so we should stop trying to convince one another and just coexist for the remainder of the season. -

I have no idea how to do the Russian translation everyone has grown fond of using lately, but coming from you I will take it as a compliment of sorts. :) Sure -- IF you subscribe to the notion that McEichel are the only way forward. I certainly believe they can help, but I disagree they are absolutely necessary and the Sabres are doomed to perennial mediocrity without them. This is why I would prefer we agree to disagree rather than hearing the popular tank position that losing is the only path to hockey salvation and the rest of us are dolts for somehow failing to see this. -

I'd be okay with more games like Sun. night vs Nashville, OT or regulation. I want to see progress and evidence of something resembling a team playing together with pride, even if they aren't very good and ultimately lose. I cannot hope for them to lose. Unfortunately I'll miss tonight due to snowboarding! -
Lol I said that all through college (and grad school).

How?! How do you function when regularly getting 5 hours of sleep?? I've certainly done it for long stretches when necessary, but to choose that schedule? No way.

I don't think (hope) you meant this to come off like it did, but how about we drop the telling each other how to be fans as though there's only one correct answer this season? I can acknowledge the benefits of them finishing 30th without wanting them to lose every remaining game in embarrassing fashion. And if you feel differently, so be it, but please keep your version of "cheering" to the CHL thread in-game. -
Ha - in my book, 9am is still early! When I don't have lab meeting I roll in between 10 and 11am. I'm up until 1am most nights, so getting up before 8am is painful. I'll do it when necessary, but most of what I do can be done on my own schedule so I'd rather be there until 7pm than get in at 8-9am. This, too... I'm far more productive after 4-5pm when everyone else starts heading out.

I like Vietnamese food, but haven't tried a lot of things outside of standard fare like spring rolls and Pho. One of my good friends is Vietnamese and her mom had ordered 350 Banh mi for a large community Lunar New Year's party that ended up getting canceled this past weekend due to weather, so they were scrambling Friday night to get the word out and sell them. What's amazing is that they DID manage to have takers lined up for all of them by Sat. morming; what's hilarious is that she told me lots of them were purchased by nail salons.

Good question... the games certainly lend themselves to a later schedule, so I know I'd have a tough time doing early morning meetings the day or so after. If only the restaurant industry paid better... that schedule was perfect for me (4pm-midnight). I am not intelligent at 9am.

Agreed, except... ... handled appropriately in the sense that it was right to suspend him, but stupid for Nolan to not say why yesterday. The story almost always comes out (fairly quickly, in this case), and to not say why and be non-committal on whether it's a one-game suspension or more just leads to unnecessary speculation. I hope so. As someone who also requires multiple alarms in the morning and is often late, I somewhat sympathisize with Zads. That being said, I have the luxury of a more flexible schedule and rules are rules... I would expect to face punishment if I were late to important work-related events as well. Also agreed. Do you think GMTM broke his poker face, though? I just can't picture him any other way, lol.

Welcome, and props for the avatar. -
Tried banh mi (Vietnamese sub) for the first time tonight. Didn't look very appealing, and for the most part not ingredients I'd normally go for, but my goodness... delicious!

I really don't understand all the secrecy around the injuries this year. Yeah, if they're still playing through it, or it's the playoffs, etc, by all means be vague, but if they're done for the year? What's the harm in making that information available?
-
Why would you go to the trouble when it comes in those convenient little packets (along with a week's supply of MSG)? :P
-
Exactly... they said the reason after the All Star break (delayed flight), so why not this time? Is it something worse, or is Nolan just getting irritated with the number of (relatively) minor infractions over the course of the season?
-
So odd. I mean, I understand and appreciate that Nolan would prefer to keep whatever is going on "in the room", but it really leaves the rest of us wondering (particularly in a year when there's nothing else to talk about). I get that he's a kid, but this concerns me because we have (and have had) plenty of other teenagers come through without issue. So is Zadorov doing something worse than any of our other young rookies, or is Nolan just less tolerant of it than past coaches? All very curious. Whatever the reason, I hope Zads learns from it like he did from being a healthy scratch early in the season.

41F... it's a heat wave! Of course, tomorrow is a high of 16F. :(
