Went into the car dealership this morning for my state inspection/emissions testing, and left $400 poorer after adding on a transmission flush and two new tires. Oof. It never ends.

Given the choice I'd probably have selected "reserving judgement", but overall I'm okay with the hire since I didn't have strong feelings on any of the front runners. All I want right now is someone who wants to be here, and I look forward to seeing what he can do come September.

Oh yikes, shrader... I hope they can figure something out to get him better care ASAP. I'm in the same boat, lady... way too much going on and not enough time to keep up on everything here. My uncle had to have emergency gallbladder surgery late last week after being rushed to the ER and continuing to deteriorate throughout the day even with heavy pain meds. Thank God they moved up the surgery to the following morning rather than waiting, because they found his gallbladder was gangrenous (:sick:) and perforated from all the stones. Another day and he might night have made it.

The interview this past Tuesday with my boss's former colleague went well and I think there is mutual interest. There are a lot of logistical and financial details to work out, but it's a good possibility. Then Wed. morning the company I'd had a phone interview with a few weeks ago finally called to set up an in-person interview! That's not until June 3rd, and I'm not sure I want that job, but it's good to have options. Thank God; this job search has been soul-crushing the last several weeks.

A fair point. I'm just hung up on the fact that there seems to have been a huge disparity between what he (MB) was saying publicly and what he actually intended to do. I'd be pissed if I was a Red Wings fan.

I agree in principle, but it's not like it was just the Sabres FO were arrogant and assumed they had it wrapped up; TO was already interviewing the next guy in line for them, so clearly they had no idea they were still in the running! Pitting two suitors against one another is one thing, but TO wasn't courting Babcock; it was the other way around. He was just smart enough to make it seem like he didn't want to be there to extract as much coin as possible.
