Keith it is. The booing for Bettman, lol. Ha - qwk was just talking about this song recently, too.
-
Wonder how long they'll have to stall until the cup arrives?
-
Heck of a time to take their first penalty. Wow Crawford!
-
Wow, I hear the fat lady.

Agreed on the 2014 Olympics; I couldn't believe how little of it was on regular NBC. As to the bolded: I've definitely done this, but as more of my friends/family cancel their cable subscriptions, I'm running out of (legal) options!
-
Exactly. The same price I paid for the NHL's subscription once included rounds 1 and 2 of playoff access, but now the price is the same and I've lost that access with no other way to purchase it. It's like when food marketers drop their pack sizes and leave the price the same, hoping you wouldn't notice you're now paying the same $ for 10 oz of cereal when you used to get 12 oz.

I'm not upset that I don't get something for free; I'm upset that they can't find a way to let me pay for that product (outside of an absurd cable TV package that includes other things I neither want nor need). A capitalist should explore as many ways as possible to let people pay for their product, but NBC is perfectly content to let us all rot because they're in bed with the cable companies. (And when I had playoff round 1 and 2 game access through NHL GCL and/or CI, I PAID FOR IT.)
-
That's bad, too, but at least before they had the new deal with NBC I had access to the playoff games (in rounds 1 and 2) through NHL GameCenter. Now there are no (legal) non-cable options, which is horsesh!t.
-
I'm less annoyed by the extra day off than I am by the fact that far too many of the games are on cable.
-
My dad always calls them white cherries, but they're more like a pale yellow/pink color than white. Kind of like albino cherries, lol. (Bit of a misnomer.)
-
Yeah, that was my thinking based on your post as well. Bit of a gamble, but if he does it right and things go well the next few years it could really pay off. I got it if that makes you feel any better. ;)

Royal Anne cherries, to be more specific. They're tough to find locally anymore, but luckily Amazon sells them: http://www.amazon.com/Oregon-Fruit-Pitted-Cherries-15-Ounce/dp/B000I66258 Generally larger in size than the standard red cherries, and sweeter (but maybe not as sweet as dark cherries?). My mom always used them and they are head and shoulders above the tart kind usually found in pies. Only bummer is the Amazon sets come with 8 cans, and you only need 3 per pie. I've used them in cobbler as well and they are quite good.

:p Angry Eleven, indeed! Hockey is not worth assault and battery charges. (Dents in walls and broken remotes, sure.) NBC has done an awesome job of making me care less about the finals since I had no way to watch games 3 and 4. F 'em.

Oof; it sounds as though Murray's truest test as a GM will be in staggering these contracts as much as possible to avoid everyone hitting payday at the same time. I think it can be done, but he'll have to have a serious long-term game plan in mind pretty soon.
-
I'll do a pre-emptive post for tomorrow: we'll be eating homemade white cherry pie for dessert. I have it in the oven right now, and the smell is killing me! No way to inconspicuously sample it ahead of time, so I'm stuck waiting.
-
I do, so luckily for me the ruling adds an extra option I might consider. It sucks for people like Eleven and my mom who live in their team's market but don't want to be forced to pay for cable to avoid blackouts. Ditto; would've totally watched tonight (especially since it'd be on the "real" NBC), but tomorrow I'll be at my dad's and he and my stepmom aren't into hockey.
-
Poo -- still doesn't help local folks without cable. At least there will be a cheaper option:
-
Thanks! And  to the bolded.
-
Good call. And yes I am a spelling and grammar fanatic myself, so I try very hard to make sure I haven't made any errors before sending!
-
I really did mean to send one (and I did for the first interview with someone else a few weeks back)! Thank goodness it wasn't a dealbreaker in this case. In other fantastic news: the contractor this morning told me I didn't need to replace the entire staircase to my basement (just the frame), so I decided to have him work on that drywall that the termites were eating. The basement stairs look 100% better, and after opening up the wall he only needed to replace one piece of drywall and some insulation, with no damage in load-bearing sections of the wall frame. He has to come back a couple more times to finish patching up the wall before I can paint it, but I feel 1000% better knowing that will have been addressed.

Thank you for this, gentlemen... I just heard back from the HR person (I'd emailed he and the two managers with whom I met last week) and he said I am still very much under consideration and they are working on the next steps so I should hear from them next week. I hate waiting even longer, but so relieved to hear I didn't bungle that opportunity!
-
Yikes -- good to know. Sending now! I'm kicking myself for not doing it; just got completely distracted last week after talking to the other woman and then going into work. D'oh!
-
Even 9 days late? I'm afraid it might look desperate at this point, but I don't want them to think I wasn't interested. The manager I'd met with told me their HR people are incredibly slow, but he'd thought I should hear back either way this week.
-
Not yet. :( I realized yesterday I completely spaced on sending a follow-up / thank you email to the people I interviewed with last week because I'd had such an encouraging conversation afterwards with the first person I'd interviewed with and forgot. I hope that doesn't come back to haunt me. :(
