This thread is cracking me up. Well done, folks. Have you never seen Coming to America??
-
Good on ya. I really need to get back on that horse at some point and stop being a chicken.
-
Thanks! And I know. :( Unless I come up for preseason or something, although that'll probably be right around the time I'm moving. Who knows; maybe I'll fly back to Buffalo at some point for a game and SS bourbon gathering. :)

That article mentioned very hot water helps trick your nerves into forgetting the itch temporarily... maybe soak some washclothes in very hot water and drape on your arm? Might not work if it's upper arm, though. Good luck, man.

Oh yikes, Hoss... this sounds awful: http://news.nationalpost.com/news/whitest-mans-burden-for-an-unlucky-few-sunburn-means-a-debilitating-itch-torture Hopefully it's "only" a day or two. Enjoy some relaxation and a much needed mental health break this weekend.

Ah, I gotcha. We had to wait between March and Sept. to do the burial for my grandfather for some reason, but they had the service in March. Sorry for your loss. :( In happier news: I've made a decision in my job search, and while this summer will be a little challenging commuting to Baltimore, in the fall I will be moving to Denver, CO! I'm SO excited.

:( Why now if he passed in November?
-
So sorry to hear, ubkev. :( Good on you for making those changes in your own life, though. And yes, 27 is way too young.
-
Still valid. ;) And thanks, everyone. I'm really thankful we're not talking survivability with him at this point and it could be much worse. He has a CT scan tomorrow and a visit with the specialist who will do his surgery on Monday, so hopefully we'll know more then.

My dad has oral lichen planus, which is an ideopathic immune-related disease that causes patchy lesions in the mouth. About 12-13 years ago, one of those lesions turned out to be cancerous, and he had to have 3 or 4 teeth removed but made a full recovery. He had laser ablation done back in January to deal with the OLP, but it didn't work and started to get worse again the last several weeks. Two to three weeks ago, one of the dental implants in that area had come loose and needed to be removed, and last week we found out that a biopsy of the nearby lesion on his cheek is carcinoma. As far as cancers go he could do a lot worse, but it's still scary to hear. We're hoping he caught it early again and it hasn't spread, but we don't know if the implant failure was related or coincidental, and he's worried if they need to remove a portion of his jaw that he'll be unable to go back to work since he needs to be able to talk and interact with customers. My stepmom is going to take good care of him, but sometimes she needs help herself because she deals with depression and her own chronic health issues, and her family are not the type of people you can rely on for help. All of which makes me feel terrible for strongly considering a job offer that would have me relocating outside of driving distance. This year, man... 2015 can go F itself.

:w00t: Where did this come from, and how am I just now seeing it for the first time?? Very nice.

Why thank you, kind sir! :)

 One of them is a "people person", so they lured her in to be the friendly face at job fairs since she loves chatting with strangers, and she stayed for the raise. That is a sweet view. For you, Hoss: http://songdrops.com/pug-licking-screen-clean/

I think their key is that they both started out in other positions before moving into HR, so they're pretty normal folks. But it's entirely possible they are the only two in existence, since everyone else I've interacted with meets your definition.
-
 I have a couple friends in HR for whom I would make an exception, but in general I agree wholeheartedly with this idea. And thanks, everyone!
-
Thanks!

Oh wow; I thought I remembered a recent conversation about this, but that was quite a while ago!

Duly noted. Aud seemed the kinder abbreviation, but I did vaguely recall this came up once before and you preferred Smell. Really looking forward to the draft next Friday!
-
^ It's all good, Aud (or did we settle on Smell?); at work they pose no problem. ;)
-

Good luck, NS! I don't know how people do those fasts, but much respect for it. In other awesome news: thank you Jesus; I finally have job offers (from both places)! Now I have a tough decision to make by Friday. So glad I won't be unemployed in two weeks.

Lol love the tank-busting gifs (even if they're taxing my crappy iPad and home internet service). Bring on the new era of Sabres hockey!!

Eesh. I've only donated blood before because the idea of plasma skeeves me out a bit. I was going to correct you on the universal donor thing, but after looking it up apparently it's different for plasma (AB+) than red cells (O-). Learned something new today. That's a rare type, though, so good on you for donating. I'm O+ and used to donate blood regularly before a couple times I almost passed out at work afterwards. Advice to iTlnSn: make sure you are fully hydrated and have eaten within the previous 4 hours (but not within 1 hr) of going! It's a small discomfort that can potentially help lots of people.

Tried 2 Nite Sicilian Blood Orange vodka this evening: http://www.proof66.com/vodka/2-nite-blood-orange-vodka.html The bottle may look like a leftover prop from Carrie, but the contents are fantastic. Smooth and sippable over ice, and the flavor holds its own with cranberry juice, too. Very nice.

First handoff to Timonen - very nice.
