  1. Ha!
  2. lol I don't recall seeing that sketch before, d4rk, but that's pretty funny!
  3. Oof -- I doubt it came from there since I'm not a fan of that kind of music (the twang drives me up a wall). Also, "the sugars" refers to diabetes. ;)
  4. For sure. Some people learn better different ways, so teaching different ways of looking at and answering a question is a good thing, but definitely not at the exclusion of other methods.
  5. Hmm, dunno... I used to watch a lot of stand up on Comedy Central back in the day, but he doesn't use that exact phrase. Maybe I modified it myself after the fact, haha.
  6. Okay, this is killing me... I use this phrase periodically because it cracks me up, but I can't for the life of me recall where it came from. "Oh Lawd, my baby's got the sugars!!" I could imagine it in something like the Nutty Professor but I've searched online and can't find an actual source. SabreSpace, help a sister out!
  7. You're welcome to take it back! A couple others noticed it recently and wanted to borrow, too, lol... it's yours for the taking! I'll just update mine to "see Liger's sig", lol.
  8. Agreed on this. I remember in high school math class my teacher didn't like that I would calculate the price of something with tax by multiplying the price x 1.06 vs. multiplying by 0.06 and then adding that amount to the price. Both ways work, but the latter was an extra unnecessary step and shouldn't be required.
  9. Indeed. My friend's husband said he's gotten used to it, but I just can't imagine it ever getting old. Gorgeous out here! I think so. In the interim, I am now in a place where I can be happy (at least outside of work) with or without him, which is important.
  10. Boyfriend, lol. Same one from before; he's been redeeming himself the last several months since I relocated. He'd like to move here if possible, but relocating for him is tricky in his line of work and would take several months (maybe more than a year) to arrange. Working on it, though.
  11. Nope; the boy was my companion last weekend in San Francisco. :) Oh, and that reminds me -- Steamboat Springs is awesome! Went the first weekend in Feb. with friends of mine who recently purchased a condo there. Beautiful, beautiful place.
  12. My snowboarding buddy from PA is flying to Denver tonight and staying through Monday. We're aiming to hit the slopes 2-3 days and do some other hiking and stuff around town inbetween, and the weather here is expected to be dry and sunny. Plus I get a (very) long weekend off work as an added bonus! Now to try and be productive for the next 4 hours...
  13. Was definitely happy to sit down afterwards, lol. We had a leisurely pace and did that over the course of several hours with a couple little stops for snacks and/or pictures, but we earned our dinner, for sure.
  14. Agreed with BagBoy; I meant to make that clearer in my initial response. You've always come across as a reasonable person, Dom.
  15. I find the bolded statement very hard to believe without some kind of evidence to back it up. I realize that people in certain lines of work experience more variation in salary than others (sales, for instance), but that's an enormous range she's claiming.
  16. Saturday was beautiful weather in San Francisco. We ended up walking over 11 miles for the day, mostly going from our hotel in the financial district through Chinatown, down around the Bay, and partway across the Golden Gate bridge. So nice to be outside.
  17. The insurance company finally approved my dad's hyperbaric therapy! He's been waiting almost 3 weeks for a decision, but he starts on Tuesday next week. Hopefully this will make a difference and allow him to finish healing from the radiation therapy.
  18. Thanks, and yeah, he's cancer-free (huzzah!) but still not healed from the radiation. :( I wish we could cut back to talking once a week or something, but he's gotten used to talking daily and I feel like it's the least I can do to oblige him. And LOL on the bolded.
  19. Interesting -- will check that out! And yeah, the tickets to Alcatraz are a little pricey, but the ferry isn't bad.
  20. Everyone is so helpful! :) I know, and it's not the only reason... the time difference has been an unexpected factor, but I've also just been really busy. I'm on the phone with my dad for a long time most nights (carryover from this past summer when he first got sick, and I've kept it up because it makes him feel better about my moving away, but it really cuts into my evenings), and too many nights I don't even remember to check if there's a game on. Then when I do check it's already over, so it feels like there's no point in watching (and the quality of HS was frustratingly poor prior to its demise). I need to set reminders for myself so I can get back into it.
  21. Thanks! Tomorrow we're thinking about taking the ferry over to Sausolito, walking around the Marin Headlands and Battery Spencer, and then coming back over the Golden Gate bridge. Haven't totally decided on Sunday... was considering Alcatraz, but I'll keep these in mind. Should be nice weather so I'm looking forward to it.
  22. Have a job interview this afternoon and then headed to San Francisco for the weekend after work. Nervous for the interview, but excited as well. Oh yeah -- my tax refund should be deposited on Monday! Huzzah!
  23. :( Sad, but (mostly) true. A little politics as well, but between work, company, snowboarding, and now the demise of hockeystreams, I haven't watched a game in far too long (and almost never live being on MST).
  24. SabreSpace has infiltrated my email:
  25. I did not see that coming... very interesting read.
