Because your first message says nothing about the positive aspect on the stituation, while cautioning to be on the lookout. You jumped straight to assuming they were up to no good and then partially back-pedaled (or at least that's how it came across to me). People come to this thread to share good news and experiences, and you immediately jumped to the negative.

As is so often the case for you, it's an issue of delivery and then crying poor me when you're supposedly misunderstood. So thanks for the concern, but not needed.
-
Because even though in your second reply you added a faux caveat about assuming the good in everybody, you clearly do not. The way you started it out assumes they had ill-intent, even though you claim otherwise. I took offense to it because I was there and have no reason whatsoever to suspect this.

I'm glad you understand my reaction, and I understand and appreciate the concern by both you and JJ, even if I do not appreciate the delivery. If it makes you guys feel any better, I have electronic locks on my doors and a wireless camera monitoring system. But there was nothing about any of my interactions with those people that gives me the slightest pause. (Edit: And if they'd REALLY wanted to steal my stuff, they could've just driven off with it while it was loaded into their trucks rather than bringing it to the house at all. But considering the organizer works for his dad's electrical business, it would be a pretty stupid move on their part.)

I don't know how many times I have to repeat that these were genuinely nice people FROM A CHURCH YOUTH GROUP. All young. Friendly and non-obnoxious conversations about religion over lunch. People who are just trying to case your place to steal sh!t don't ask you to hang out later and take your phone # to stay in touch. Go piss in someone else's Cheerios.

Maybe give these a try, too? http://www.earthkind.com/products/stay-away-botanical-rodent-repellent

Did you miss the part where they already helped me move and were awesome? They were just legitimately nice people who knew each other from church and work. Way to try and turn something awesome into a negative.

I actually re-purchased it last year through SecondSpin after I was telling friends about the amazing version of No Leaf Clover and realizing I couldn't find my copy. Worth buying twice!

LOVE this one. I think I had it on loop for at least 2/3 of the 25 hour drive from PA to CO last year, haha.

Genuinely good people are still out there, and they are awesome. I had a ceiling fan installed by an electrician at my house back in early August. Nice young guy. At the time he'd asked who was helping me move, and I'd told him I didn't know yet and would probably end up hiring someone once I figured out which weekend in September. He'd offered that a number of his friends from youth group have trucks and he could probably get a group of people to help move me for free (!) if I'd like. So last Sat. he and 4 other guys and 2 girls (none of whom I'd met) showed up to my apartment with three trucks, and they had my apartment emptied and everything unloaded at the house inside 2.5 hours, and since we finished early, they invited me to join them for lunch after. Some of the nicest, most amazing people I've ever met, and it still blows me away that someone would do that for a stranger.

This is about where I am, as well. I'd prefer to write-in Sanders, but since CO might be in play, I've decided I will vote for Hillary, purely to avoid be complicit in electing Trump.

:( Sincerest condolences, iTlnSn, and prayers that your mom recovers fully. :( People suck.

That's a lot of red!

Same deal in PA... by county, most of the state is red, but Pittsburgh and Philly are solidly blue and have far greater population density.

Related fantastic-ness: I managed to replace a bathroom vanity top and faucet by myself this week! :D

I am exhausted from moving boxes over the last week and late nights spent working on the house. But tomorrow morning is the official move date, so the end is in sight (even if the project to-do list is still long). I can't wait to sleep in on Sunday and start getting my life back!

THIS. Today we're spending the entire day unpacking and moving 4 commercial (49 cu ft) refrigerators that were delivered yesterday. Why? The building in which we work is managed by a separate company than the University, and while a loading dock is provided for deliveries, there is no pallet jack and no one who works there. So one by one, we're cutting away all the packing material, un-bolting them from their pallets, wrestling them around and propping up to install the casters, and wheeling them up to the lab. We also have to cut down all the cardboard and move all the trash ourselves out to the dumpster. It's literally going to take us all day, rather than us spending time on what we're ACTUALLY paid to do.

Very, very cool, Jo!

Back in Dec. of last year, I had placed an order for some supplies for work. Right after placing the order I realized I'd entered the wrong cat. # for one of the items and called the vendor to have it fixed. They couldn't update the existing order, but instead created a new order for the correct item and sent instructions on how to return the one I'd inadvertently ordered. All good, right? Heard from our purchasing folks in May (!) that there was still an issue with an outstanding charge since the vendor's invoice didn't exactly match the original order. Talked to them to explain what happened, they walked me through some steps to address the problem and get the order resolved, and thought it was all done. End of June: get an "urgent" email saying the order needs to be fixed by the end of the fiscal year. Forward them all the emails from May and ask them to let me know if there's something else that needs to be done; don't hear back. Early August: same deal. Replied AGAIN with the original info, received confirmation from one of the people on the chain that it's something that needs to be fixed on someone else's end. Don't hear back. Yesterday: another "urgent" message saying this needs to be fixed by 9/30. WTF is wrong with these people?!?

Geez... some of you have legit complaints this week (condolences to those that do). All I got is more gripes about crummy contractors and the fact that the cleaning lady must have come through and wiped everything down at work with a mildewed towel that was subsequently dipped in vinegar.
