I think he'd relayed that the plumber couldn't determine where the blockage was with the camera, so maybe that precludes RotoRooter? Although I don't know how they could both not know where the blockage is and also know it's tree roots, so clearly something is getting lost in translation there. But I'll pass that info along so he can try and look into it if possible -- thanks much.

Neither he nor I have any experience in this kind of thing, either, so he's left to rely on the advice of the plumber who came out last weekend and earlier this week. The guy had good reviews on Angie's List, but that doesn't guarantee anything, so hopefully he's not getting screwed. The fix certainly sounds extreme, but unfortunately in an emergency situation where the entire plumbing system has been rendered unusable, I don't think he feels like there's time to wait for 2nd and 3rd opinions. :(

I'll bet; any time you're in need of a Master Electrician, it's a pricey proposition. The cheapest quote I got over the summer for upgrading my electric service at the house from 100 amp to 200 amp was $3200 (and the more expensive / fancy options were pushing $10k). Some of that is due to additional permit requirements in my county, but yeesh.

The floor drain in the basement of my boyfriend's house started backing up last Friday. After having plumbers come out and run a camera through the line, they determined tree roots have blocked the sewer drainage pipe and the entire thing needs to be replaced. So for now he can't use the dishwasher or washing machine, and showers and toilets are only to be used sparingly. He also has to remove all the bricks from a very large patio so that they can dig up his entire backyard and replace the line over the course of three days next week, then have the patio re-done after everything is finished. Overall he's looking at something like $15-16k for the whole shebang. And he was supposed to be flying here to spend the weekend in Denver with me tomorrow, which is probably now off.

That's it; I'm moving back East! I can take your son's room when he leaves for college, right? :P

Hey we've, did you grow any squash in that crazy garden of yours? This sounds intriguing: http://www.liquor.com/articles/butternut-squash-old-fashioned/#gs.eVFcs4A

I was last season, but I cancelled before the renewal this year because I didn't watch it enough to justify the expense. Too hard to keep up with the time difference, especially if we can't start from the beginning while the game is in progress. I may re-subscribe late in the season if the Sabres make a playoff push, though. Thanks!

lol not at all; I have a login since I was a subscriber last year. Just figured I'd point out that the support forum is not open-access, which is unfortunate.

That link doesn't work for me for some reason (blank page that never loads)... maybe you have to be logged in to use the forums? Either way, keep us posted if you hear anything!

Geez, how stupid... I know you could do this last year. If this is how it's going to be for them going forward, it only re-affirms my decision to cancel the service. I would totally come home from work and start watching the game from the beginning about two hours in, but to wait until the next night? The urgency is gone, and the outcome is already known. Total crap move.

UGH. This just sucks. http://www.sportingnews.com/nhl/news/sabres-jack-eichel-evander-kane-injury-updates-high-ankle-sprain-ribs-broken-hospital/1onqfdaxfjfeh1ml3rwm4oazkf At least this says Okposo should play Sunday.

Dude, you look like Jesse Eisenberg! (Solid game face, BTW.)

lol - it looks like GMTM was trying to get up and run out the door and got surprised by the camera.

I over-filled my mug with water after drinking tea in a lazy attempt to avoid washing it (and to make myself drink more water.) I then proceeded to forget I had over-filled said mug, and poured a bunch of it down my front when I went to take a sip.

lol nice. My goathead fits similarly, and I thought I'd get weird looks at work wearing something that says Satan on the back.

Thanks! (It's actually just a long-sleeved shirt, but no matter.) I'll be listening to streaming audio since no way to watch tonight, but hoping for the best.

Good on you for considering it. I said after finishing my MS that I was completely and totally done for good with school, but more recently I'm entertaining the idea of going back for a degree in Genetic Counseling. Not what I originally wanted to do, but it'd be more interesting than my current gig, still use a lot of my background / training, and be a whole lot more stable than research jobs. Can't really afford to do it right now, though.

I remember in high school I was working at an ice cream shop. I'd started there at minimum wage, worked for a year and received 2 or 3 increases so that I was something like $0.75/hr over minimum. Not much, but something. The next year when I came back, the minimum wage was raised to what was my rate, and the managers didn't add an increase. So like Liger, I was there with a year of experience making the same as the noobs I was training. Sucked when I was 17, and it's even worse when you're an adult making actual money.

This article lists several (non-goalie) skaters who suffered the same injury and how long it took them to return: http://buffalonews.com/2016/10/12/without-injured-eichel-sabres-big-challenge-awaiting/ Looks like 4 weeks is optimistic, but it also says nothing about the severity of each player's sprain.
