Jeebus... just contacted Verizon via online chat and was told I don't even need to return the modem since I've had it for more than 12 months. I had TWO different reps tell me it did need to go back and that I would get a mailer to do so. On top of that, they told me I have to wait 30-40 days for my final bill to be generated, and then another 4-6 WEEKS until they send a check for the amount covering the three weeks of service for which they've already billed me. :censored: Edit: And thanks for the kind words, Drane... much appreciated.

Ugh, IKP reminded me of another one... I called to cancel my Verizon DSL service on 7/31 since I switched to CLEAR internet. They told me I should receive a mailer to return the modem, and the next day I received an email confirming my service had been cancelled. All good, right? I thought so, except on 5 days later I was billed the full monthly rate, which includes three weeks AFTER my cancellation date, and I hadn't received the mailer to send back the modem. Sent an email though their online form, and after not receiving a response two days later I called and waited on hold for probably 20 minutes before a rep told me it's normal for them to go ahead and bill you a full month and that I have to wait for them to do the "final" bill to be credited for those three weeks of service I'm not receiving. I told her I hadn't received the mailer and she said she'd get one sent out. Now all good, right? Wrong... another 5 days later and I STILL haven't received the damn mailer. If they would have just sent a prepaid label I would have return the stupid thing two weeks ago, but now I'm going to have to fight with them to not hit me with a fee for not returning it inside the 20 day window because they never sent the mailer! :censored:

Would this help? foam weather stripping tape They come in different thicknesses, and really easy to apply. I've used it to fill somewhat large gaps since my doors weren't set properly.

Ugh, they do that here as well and I hate it. We spend hours filling out these stupid forms for our performance reviews (and most of it is filled out by me!), and then at the end of the day it all comes down to one of 5 boxes checked by my boss on the last page ranging from "performance significantly exceeds expectations" to "performance does not meet expectations". How subjective is that? If I start a position and my boss knows coming in that I'm pretty damn good at what I do, then me performing to that level is merely meeting expectations whereas someone where you aren't expecting much out of them and they don't really do any more than the minimum is also "meeting expectations", and the difference in raises is typically only 1-2%. Where's the incentive? Shouldn't an institution strive to be comprised of employees who all perform at a high level and reward them accordingly rather than only offering a token reward for the high performers and forcing some of those high performers into lower categories to fit their stupid bell curve? Makes no sense whatsoever. Thanks, dEnnis... he does okay when I can keep him to a pretty strict schedule, but any deviation from that and he gets stressed and has trouble. Last Sat. night I went to my friends' annual summer BBQ (I really debated whether to go), and despite my best efforts to compensate with his feeding schedule, I got home later than I planned and he was a wreck. I felt so awful and guilty. I had to force him to rehydrate and then he had to take a nap before he was ready to eat (even though I could hear his stomach growling), and then he woke up a bit later and was able to eat. After getting back to a normal schedule the next day and a lot of sleep, he was fine. But is that me, wishful thinking and trying to avoid a difficult decision, or doing the right thing and caring for him as best I can while he's still somewhat healthy? I really don't know anymore.

I'm trying not to jinx mine, but it looks like I'll finally be able to refinance my mortgage. If everything goes through my interest rate will drop from 6.375% to 3.75% and my payment will go down about $220 / month. Fingers crossed!!

Late replying, but congrats, Liger! Sounds like this has been a long time coming.

Center Ice through DirecTV is 4 payments of $42.95 (subject to adjustment if the season starts later). As far as I know, Gamecenter is the same. I've had CI through DTV for several years now, and the HD feeds are fantastic with the caveat that you do get the occasional interruptions that go with satellite tv. With Gamecenter you should still get HD feeds, but the quality of your viewing experience will be heavily dependent on having a fast enough internet connection. As far as MSG, I'm fairly sure I had the MSG HD feed for all home games and the SD feed for all away games.

Wow, CSB... I second dEnnis in saying kudos for how you've handled the whole situation. That's total crap about your boss, and I hope you find a new job where you can be appreciated AND be home as much as you like for your son. For me: I'm at a loss as far as what to do about my dog. After the scare he gave me in June I really just wanted to keep him comfortable until it was his time to go with the hope that it would happen peacefully in his sleep, but instead it's just become a sort of slow decline in health. His vision is quite poor and he stumbles and runs into things a lot, and occasionally he falls over because his hind legs are weak. He gets incredibly thirsty and dehydrated, but can't / won't drink unless I show him his water bowl and physically prop him up while he drinks. I don't think I've slept more than 4-6 hours at a time for the last two months because he needs to go out late and wakes me up early, and I have to clean up messes pretty much every day when I get home from work. (Thankfully he still has bladder control.) But, in spite of all that, he still eats heartily and doesn't seem to be in any pain. My boyfriend really wants me to consider putting him down because he sees the toll caring for him is taking on me, but I feel like we wouldn't even be having that conversation if he were a human family member. I'm just afraid if I do it now it'll be for my sake and not my dog's, and I don't want that on my soul. If there were a clear sign he's uncomfortable I would do it, but I wonder sometimes if I'm still capable of being objective about the situation. I revolve my entire day around this dog and when I can / need to be home to give him food, medicine, etc. and it's caused me to avoid plans and miss out on a lot of things. I'm always exhausted and un-fun to be around, and I hate that.

I agree. I'm also admittedly surprised that someone mentally stuck in the Dark Ages (as Fred and Margie Phelps are) is on Twitter.

Not a lot of updates on the story yet, but here's two: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-57487094/sikh-temple-shooting-suspect-identified-as-wade-michael-page-motivation-unclear/ And GD, I can't stand those bastards at the Westboro Baptist "Church": http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/05/westboro-responds-to-wisc_n_1745173.html

Made with bits of real panther, so you know it's good!

lol no worries -- I realized after replying that your original question was from a week ago! I've gotten very behind on SS reading lately.

TrueBlue has already gotten at the answer, but here's the article I think you're looking for: http://www.buffalonews.com/incoming/article922507.ece

Yeah it's a little confusing... I heard an audio clip where I thought they said there were 4 gunmen and the other 3 got away, but I have no idea if that's correct or someone misunderstood. I certainly hope it was just the one.

Here we go again... http://www.todaystmj.../165061026.html Details still sketchy at this point, but sad this is happening again already. Edit: Can't figure out how to fix the off-topic tag in the subject line (sorry, mods!).

Reminds me of this, lol:

Very good to know! I remember being frustrated with their stupid MS Silverlight (?) video player requirement last go-round... Hopefully better now.

Seems like it's usually mid-September? Might depend on how the CBA negotiations go this year.
-
Congrats to you both! ... And to you?
-
Well perhaps you didn't mean it as it came across, but it sounded as though you have no remorse for the people who had nothing to do with this (yet will be affected anyhow), which is the part I can't understand.

Come on, dark. You're better than this. Penn State not going to fight the sanctions (copied from a University email):

Check with thesportsbuff (another poster who also blogs)... I think he often links in his signature line but could be mistaken.

I thought it a little odd to have this guy (no idea who he is) making a pre-emptive "but they can't do that!" post before the sanctions are even announced, but not knowing much in the way of legal matters (or the NCAA) I figured I'd get the impressions of people on here. It seems possible the guy has an argument (is Penn State gonna get the Raffi Torres treatment by Shanahan?) but I'm not qualified to make that determination.
