Agreed; unless they've known about it for a while and have already had other tests done that ink isn't aware of, watchful waiting isn't really the way to go right after diagnosis.

Yikes, man. Based on this page, sounds like "wait and see" isn't uncommon if they believe it's slow-growing: http://www.mayoclini...ments-and-drugs And I feel like an a$$ now for my complaint, but I'd already typed it up so here goes: Last Christmas I’d asked my mom for a new battery for my digital camera since mine was no longer holding a charge. (A mistake on my part; she’s the type to upgrade frequently to the latest technology, whereas I’m the type to keep something as long as it’s functional and meets my needs. The camera was a few years old, but a respectable 8 MP and worked great.) Sure enough, she sends me a brand new camera, making the argument that it has 16 MP, didn’t cost “that much” more than a replacement battery, and I could sell the old one. I’m annoyed because after trying it out I feel like my old camera is much more user-friendly, but I keep it anyway because I don’t feel like fighting with her about it and hurting her feelings. After an unsuccessful attempt to sell the old one, I end up buying a replacement battery for about $6 and gave it to a friend. I use my camera almost exclusively when traveling or on vacation since the camera in my phone is good enough for everyday use, so when I took it out in August for something and it wouldn’t turn on, I figured the battery had drained and plugged it in to charge. Indicator light turns green, try to turn it on, and still nothing... it isn’t even recognized when I connect via USB to a computer. Wtf? Searched online and found info about a firmware update that is intended to fix the issue of a battery not charging, but this update stupidly requires me to reformat the memory card via computer and my laptop doesn’t have a card reader. Finally remembered to try it on my bf’s laptop the other week and managed to get the update on the card, but without the ability to turn on the camera, there’s no way to install it. We order a 3rd party wall charger for the battery that also includes 2 replacement batteries because the camera manufacturers are too effing cheap to include a wall adapter any more (charges in the camera via USB). Plugged in the original battery, indicator light turns green, camera won’t turn on. Charged one of the replacement batteries, light turns green, camera still won’t turn on. I contact customer service to voice my frustration and ask for suggestions on what else to do, and naturally they’re insisting it’s malfunctioning because I’m not using an “approved” memory card (of course, they don’t give you one with the camera). So I can send it in for repair, and it should be under warranty being less than 1 year old, but I’m fully expecting to get the runaround and them insisting it’s not their piece of sh!t equipment that’s the problem. So angry. Also, due to the poor placement of my laptop’s touchpad my wrist accidentally refreshed the screen after I’d written half of this post.

Great news! Enjoy that drink. :)

Sending prayers your way. Hopefully you'll have reason to post in the Friday thread tomorrow.

Pretty sure we played that as a game at middle school roller skating parties, lol.

Love the new avatar, btw.

Lame complaint, but with all the changes this week I'm having a much more difficult time keeping up on the threads here, lol. And I wish they played tonight and not tomorrow since I have plans! That's all I've got.

Holy sh!t... just saw the announcement on FB. With any other organization this wouldn't be surprising, but since it's the Sabres, I'm truly shocked. Here's hoping this is a much needed step in the right direction. -
Great find, Arc. Awesome indeed. I think this website is awesome because it helped me fix my dryer without having to call a repair guy! http://www.repairclinic.com/RepairHelp/Appliance-Repair-Help-Lawn-Mower-Repair-Help-Small-Engine-Repair-Help

Get a keyboard with a headphone jack! :) I have a full-size Roland digital piano I inherited from my dad when he upgraded, and the headphones came in handy when it's late or I'm feeling self-conscious, lol.

Worth a shot -- thanks! Lol

That's a hilarious ad, but congrats on the approval -- hope it helps!

Good call. Carpet is flush to the door so no room for a towel, but I was thinking of trying one of those plastic mats for under a desk chair. I saw someone else put a plastic tub with water right next to the door so their cat couldn't get to it without getting soaked, haha.

lol I like the idea, but he's outside my room scratching, so he'd probably run off before I got him. Tried double-sided tape, but he just chews on it! Rex, lol. And seriously thinking about re-listing his ad online... very sweet little guy, but I think he'd be better off in a home with another kitten as a playmate (or someone who is home more than I am).

Found out my clothes dryer was broken right after putting in wet clothes on Sunday. Still waiting for the replacement part that I *hope* will fix it. The kitten has taken to scratching at my bedroom door at whatever hour he decides I should get up, which is always well before when the alarm is set. I was trying to stay awake Tues. night to see the game since I tuned in at 2-1, then it went to OT, then to the shootout, and I'll be damned if I didn't fall asleep on the couch DURING the shootout, only to wake up at 4am with no idea who'd won. And, much as I like to complain, I know some folks with real stuff going on that make my complaints feel very petty indeed.

Love the new avatar... your work, I presume?

Good luck, Swamp... you've got an uphill climb, but I hope everything works out with your daughter.

Yeah, I have a friend down in MD who works as an engineer on government projects, and he was already reduced to 4 day weeks over the summer because of the sequester... I haven't talked to him since the shutdown started, but I suspect he's having to worry about further decreases now. He's fortunate to be paid well, but he's also the only one in his family working right now since his wife is staying home with their 8 month old daughter.

It hasn't become personal yet, but as a result of the shutdown the NIH is currently not reviewing any new biomedical research grants, which could cause insufficient grant funding for my job (and many others) down the line if current grants expire and new ones have yet to be awarded.

Meant to ask if you'd heard about that one... I know there are questions about whether the English translation (intentionally or unintentionally) altered the original author's meaning, but it sounds like an incredible read.
