Lol he was the first person I thought of when the debate was mentioned. Although I strongly disagreed with him on most issues, he always seemed like a good person and I hope he and his wife are enjoying parenthood.

Ah, thanks... I missed the game Monday and figured since the article was from yesterday it was a new thing. :) -

Not news based on the lineup above, but Girgensons back at center: http://blogs.buffalonews.com/sabres/2014/02/latvian-locomotive-down-the-middle-girgensons-back-at-center.html Sounds like that was TM's suggestion, from the article. -
It's archived here: http://debatelive.org I didn't see it because I didn't even know about it ahead of time, but I have a feeling it would just be frustrating, lol.

I normally don't condone violence, but I might be able to make an exception for this: DMX to fight George Zimmerman in Boxing Match http://pitchfork.com/news/53846-dmx-to-fight-george-zimmerman-in-celebrity-boxing-match/

I really hope they keep Ott. It'll be hard to argue if they get a ridiculously strong offer, but I love his intensity and hate the idea of starting over (again) on team captain.

Loved my Camry. I had an '02 LE that I finally traded in over the summer around 176,000 miles. Still a little sad I didn't get to take it over 200,000 myself, but it was well-maintained and probably made a great starter vehicle for someone else. My dad is still driving his 1995 Camry XLE!

This is my only beef... I'd love to watch, but the time difference (and the tendency of NBC to jump through highlights of multiple live events vs airing one in its entirety in the early stages) makes it difficult to follow along. Should be a lot more entertaining and competitive than most of the Sabres games this season, though!

Congrats, FJ!

Yeah. The Seahawks made the Broncos look BAD. Wanted Peyton to do well, but Seattle's defense was dominant.

Oh man, I hope Ehrhoff can go. Please oh please oh please...

Just to point out the obvious: healthcare is a lot more affordable when you have insurance. Not just for the person who can now afford routine well exams and medications, but to the taxpayers who are then less likely to be picking up the tab when someone without insurance has expensive complications from a disease that could've been cheaply managed in its earlier stages (diabetes, high cholesterol, etc).

Homemade curried lentil soup. Good stuff.

Okay; car accident maybe wasn't the best example (although what if the vehicle operator is also un-/under-insured?). My point is that any number of unexpected injuries and illnesses can put an otherwise healthy person in sudden need of very expensive urgent medical attention, and without coverage, everyone else ends up footing the bill. I do agree that the fines probably aren't high enough to dissuade people from just paying the penalty and going without, but I don't think it's at all wrong to try and find ways to make sure everyone is paying in, although I don't pretend to think the ACA is the best possible solution.
-
In theory, maybe, but in practice unless you think it'd be a good idea to let hospitals and emergency rooms refuse to treat someone who has either no or insufficient coverage, it ends up costing everyone in the long run to allow folks to just take their chances and go without health insurance. Sure, the otherwise young and healthy are less likely to use it, but no one plans to get in a car accident.

Wow -- how is it that no one has posted in this thread the last three weeks?? I'll go: 1) I've gotten to go snowboarding 4 times so far this year already, and thanks to some help from Mother Nature, the snow has been far better than usual for this area. Here's hoping the groundhog forecasts more winter next week. 2) Tax refunds. This is the only time of year where I'm grateful for my mortgage and student loans, lol. Yeah, the huge majority of my refund is already earmarked between my upcoming dental work and recently completed hot water heater / sump repairs, but I'm so fortunate to have the means to pay for those things. 3) Call me antisocial, but I've had a couple of Saturdays recently (and aiming for another tomorrow) where I don't have to leave my house and see another human being. Solitude can be glorious sometimes.

Yikes, CSB... you are overdue for some good fortune. Hopefully things start to improve very soon on all fronts!

Oban 18? Glenlivet 21? Will really depend on what they normally drink (Speyside, Islay, etc). Nfreeman seemed to know his scotch and can probably assist more (haven't seen Braedon in ages). And that Amazon review IKP found is hilarious.

I saw that before (I think a friend who's a Blackhawks fan had posted it)... just sick, what that kid can do.

Good Lord. It really isn't possible for him to have an adult conversation on this topic. Carry on...

On this, we definitely agree.

It's not charity; it's the social contract to which someone else already alluded, and better benefits have long been a means by which employers can draw employees. Now that the job market is crap, they're able to slow raises, cut salaries, and say F you, get your own insurance, since they know it's not easy to find a better job at present.
