Women's snowboard slopestyle was pretty sweet. I forget which one landed it, but some chick threw a 1080 on the last jump, which is insane. Jamie Anderson threw down an amazing final run to win it, and really glad the Czech Republic rider was okay after a terrible crash. Pretty sure she's got a concussion after that one, but managed to ride off under her own power, which is always good to see. http://extramustard.si.com/2014/02/09/olympic-snowboarder-splits-helmet-in-violent-slopestyle-crash/ Men's downhill skiing was pretty impressive, too, although I can't believe Bode Miller only finished 8th after killing it all week in training.

I'm not sure, either... the video was only titled "harrowing ski flying crash" and they didn't have anything in the video that said who it was. It looked like bib #59, which I think was a Japanese guy. He went down so hard... crashed high on the slope and rolled the whole way down with his helmet coming off pretty early. Yeesh. Edit: Maybe that video was of the Austrian who crashed in Jan. Same bib # here (I thought since the video was dated yesterday it was a new crash): http://www.3news.co.nz/VIDEO-Olympian-Thomas-Morgenstern-horrific-ski-jump-crash-2014/tabid/415/articleID/328038/Default.aspx

Holy crap, did anyone else see the crash on the ski jump?? I saw the video on the NBC Sports app and OMG it looked bad. Dude knew the jump was screwed when he took off and had no chance at landing it. The clip stops with them carrying him off the course in (or behind?) a blanket, and I can't find a single thing about it on Google... all the links are of an Austrian ski jumper who crashed back on Jan. 10th. I would think if he'd died they'd be making a big deal about it, but jeez I hope he's going to be okay.

Jo beat me to it, but yep!

Yeah, I remember wondering if that wasn't the IOC Prez's way of getting in a little dig at Putin or a simply a plea to have people stop talking about it for now. And I couldn't help but think the upper back / shoulder portion of the torchbearers' uniforms were kind of rainbow colored.

I posted this in the Things That Are Awesome thread, but maybe it belongs here: Canada Fires Back At Russia’s Ban On Gay Propaganda With Hilarious Homoerotic Commercial http://nextimpulsesports.com/2014/02/05/canada-fires-back-russias-ban-gay-propaganda-hilarious-homoerotic-commercial/#_

I wouldn't call that insensitive; I would hope both Letang and the Pens are going to be cautious about his health going forward, even if that means getting a replacement lined-up in the interim.

Well said.

I really liked the classical bits as well. Swan Lake was nice, although I found myself thinking of the Black Swan movie, lol. The projections on the floor were extremely well done and impressive from a technical standpoint.

Wow. Crazy stuff.

Holy cow... I can't believe one day (really only a few hours) would be enough to make it safe for him to play. It takes much longer than that for a lot of these things to clear your body. I think it was at least a week after my dad stopped taking Plavix before his blood clotting returned to normal.

Stupid iOS 7. Finally relented and updated my iPad, and really wishing I hadn't. Pictures that had been fine for backgrounds are suddenly distorted and too zoomed-in, overall appearance is cartoonish, and I could swear Safari is buggy now (although I'm glad they embraced the combination search/address toolbar like Chrome). At least Colonel Taylor still understands me.

I would not be at all surprised to find pinball shot on Urban Dictionary. -
Oklahoma has a 13.5% state liquor tax. WTF? One of the only enjoyable things to do there, and they tax the sh!t out of it.

I just got the Google Nexus 5, and so far it's pretty awesome.

Oh yikes; that makes a huge difference. Definitely wouldn't recommend that!

I wonder if they changed the rules for FHA loans? Mine was originated in 2006 (and refinanced in 2012), and I know I've received statements that PMI can be cancelled once the LTV hits 80% and will automatically cancel at 78% LTV. Only catch was you had to be at least 5 years into the loan.

Tons of good advice here already, and I'll echo the one above -- do your homework and look at property taxes (and local tax rates, if your area has them -- PA is odd that way) because that will be part of your monthly mortgage payment and makes a huge difference in actual affordability vs the home price alone. Get pre-approved for a mortgage through more than one lender and look at different scenarios (downpayment vs term vs interest rate, etc). If you don't have a lot of cash to put down, check into FHA loans. Only 3% down required, but rates are a bit higher than traditional mortgages and you'll be stuck paying PMI (although you will even with a traditional loan if you put down less than 20%, which is tough to do). Bankrate.com has lots of very helpful articles and calculators to look at mortgages. Appliances are a mixed bag; if you're not in a position to buy your own, getting them included in the sale is nice. But if you can afford them (and especially if the existing ones are on the older side), you can negotiate a bit on price if you don't want them (or sell them yourself after it's yours).

Jeez, CSB... I hope that clears up quickly because that sounds pretty awful. Mine for today: I've literally spent all day working on and planning out a new experiment to test a bunch of conditions and find out what works best for future experiments, only to have the instrument I needed to do said experiment malfunction at the very last step. I worked all day without lunch for this?! :censored:
