2014 Stanley Cup Finals - NY Rangers vs. LA Kings
biodork replied to X. Benedict's topic in The Aud Club
Ugh. I was hoping I'd at least care about the Finals, but I don't like either team. -
For reasons other than his disdain for certain produce, perhaps, but
-
lol semantics; he didn't specify beef burger! ;) And yes, I also like fresh tomato and love cucumber. Unfortunately the person most often preparing the lamb burgers dislikes both, so they are rarely around.
-
Smoked gouda and Ranch dressing. If it's a lamb burger: feta, taziki sauce, spinach, and sundried tomato. Mmmm.

Welcome, Otto! Not exactly the same as handedness, but I ride regular stance for snowboarding 95% of the time (anytime I'm using an edge) and prefer goofy stance when I'm riding flat / head-on.

Calamine lotion is awesome. And this kid's parents: http://www.queerty.com/parents-of-transgender-son-share-their-emotional-story-with-inspirational-mini-doc-20140530

Hey Campy -- how about something like this for you and the gf? http://www.conditionforlife.com/30-day-challenge/
-
That's awesome. As far the sitting still thing, I would think that wouldn't take very long since it would presumably be small and is just an outline (no colors or areas to fill in). It will hurt, though.

Bug bites on the bottom of your foot. And I think I might have tonsilitis.

LOL I saw a greeting card once that had two images on the cover: top: a woman's lower back with a small bear tattoo in the middle bottom: a heavier woman's lower back with a bear trying desperately to escape being squeezed between two enormous butt cheeks

Haha on the desk... I am the same! I always know when someone has used my stuff because I always put things back a certain way. When I worked in an office years ago it would drive me bonkers when people took my (one) pen, when my cube-mate was a pen klepto with an entire cup of them on her desk. I don't want a new pen; I want MY pen back so I can continue using it! Lol mine is a butterfly (2, actually) as well. And I have no illusions about it being awesome... it's just something I wanted to do, and I did and I don't regret it. As for your girlfriend, I'll echo others and suggest you try a team approach to fitness and healthier eating. Chances are she's well-aware of her weight gain, so if you can jointly make healthier changes perhaps you can address the problem without having to come out and say it.

#3 applies to me as well. My parents (mostly my dad) were not at all into sports, so I didn't start watching until 1998 and didn't do anything remotely athletic myself until the last 5-6 years. And absolutely on the animal rescue! If I won the lottery I'd set up a place like Dogtown or something similar (not limited to dogs). I thought of one I forgot earlier (my #10): When I was in 4th grade, my family moved from Bath, NY to central PA. In NY I had lots of friends and was very well-liked (even voted class president the year before), but when we moved the kids here were very unwelcoming of outsiders. Being smart and getting glasses the following year cemented my status as a bit of a nerdy outcast. Sometimes I wonder how I would've turned out as a person if we'd stayed in NY.

Lol yes I make an exception for good food and drink; it's more situations surrounded by wealth, like a fancy restaurant or upscale store.

1. I have a small tattoo on my lower back (sorry, Campy). 2. I'm very "type A" and have definite OCD tendencies. My ex jokingly referred to me as Rainman on occasion (with good reason). 3. I hate/fear failure, which makes me very risk-averse like weave and swamp. So much so that I've had to fight the urge to pull out of my current relationship for fear that it might not work out long-term. 4. I've always been oddly uncomfortable around money/wealth. I wouldn't say I grew up poor (we never went without food or anything like that), but my parents struggled when I was young and I seem to have taken that on as a strong part of my identity. As a result, I feel awkward and incredibly out-of-place around people and things that are high-end, as if I don't belong and everone knows it. 5. As happy as I am for them, I wish my friends hadn't all gone off and gotten married and had kids. I don't really like children, and I miss having things in common with and chances to see my friends. 6. I'm a terrible liar. 7. I love most types of music, with the exception of country and weird new age stuff. Bobby McFerrin and Weird Al Yankovic make me smile. 8. I am a homebody who would rather spend a night by myself (or with one other person) at home than go out. 9. I'm with Drane on people vs animals.

Lol too much awesome for one week!

What an a$$! Good on you, chz. Wow - glad to hear you bounced back from that, Jo. From the couple of pics I've seen, I'd say you're doing just fine as you are now. :) So sick of listening to the old lady in the other half of my duplex talk to herself all day and night through our thin walls. There are times when it sounds like she's in the room, and if I were a lighter sleeper I'd have been forced to sleep in the other bedroom long ago. And my cool neighbors on the other side are moving in 2 weeks since they bought a house (they're renting now). :( Now I have to worry about new neighbors again and hope they aren't ###### like the ones before.

I never appreciated how much flavor salt contributes until the first time I made alfredo years back. It was so blah and underwhelming before adding salt! And I think I'm the only person in the world who hates pepper, lol... even just the smell of it makes me want to sneeze, and peppercorns are the worst! My dad used to always set aside one burger that only got salt for me, haha.
-
Will have to look into that... I'm always paranoid about undercooking chicken and making myself sick, so I have to remind myself that it's pretty hard to undercook steak and stop way sooner than I think I should. I may have taken the article's advise about salting too seriously... it's good, but my blood pressure is probably double right now, haha.

Well after reading about weave's sirloin mine doesn't compare, but I finally attempted to grill steak after a long time tonight, and very happy with the result. I'm not good at all with grilling, but a recent email newsletter with instructions and a long unused charcoal chimney inspired me to try again. I still overcooked them (closer to med-well than med-rare), but the flavor! Salt really does make a world of difference. Used a rub of kosher salt, garlic, rosemary, and thyme for about 8 hrs today before cooking. Will have to try again for less time.

Just heard about these folks since they were featured on BlackboardEats: http://www.sweetwaterspice.com Sounds tasty!
-
Very cool, weave! Doubt I'll see it down this way, but I'll pick some up if I do. And yowza, this stuff is too rich for my blood (but it's probably delicious): http://caskers.com/product/the-macallan-speymalt-42-year-old-single-malt-scotch-whisky/

Good grief, what is wrong with your friends??? Way too soon.
-
Oh man, weave... that sucks. Sounds like some bourbon is in order!

It's an electric mower, and the instructions look pretty straightforward but I'm just nervous because I've never done it before. I think if I use my heavier leather gardening gloves I should be okay. Kind of embarrassing it's the first I've bothered to maintain the thing after almost 8 years, lol.
