Jeebus... what kind of crazy SOB attacks people with a hatchet?? Yikes.
-
(channels Keanu Reeves:) Whoa.

I rarely eat fast food, but something possessed me to stop by McD's on the way home tonight so I could play Monopoly. Not only did I not win $1 million, I feel like hurling. My brain owes my stomach an apology for that horrible idea.

It's only been two weeks since the Sabres started the regular season, and I've already lost interest in watching them. :( Maybe when Kaleta comes back (hopefully with a full cage) I'll watch.

Lol thank you for that last sentence... I don't know why, but it strikes me as hilarious right now. I'm going to refer to the other (sort of) GDT for consolation when this game inevitably becomes unbearable to watch. -
Fair points. I still think there has to be some kind of middle ground, though. You can't give every employee $1/hr raise every year because you would quickly end up with salaries that are out of control, but at the same time there have to be SOME increases so people aren't losing purchasing power over time with inflation. Wage stagnation has been a huge problem the last several years, and that ends up hurting the economy because people just don't have as much disposable income to put back into the system.

I think you're right, but whether or not people tough it out that long depends on how undesirable the effects are, haha. Probably a lot like adding fiber to your diet... if you're eating 5-10 g / day now and eat one of those cereal bars with 9 g in one sitting, chances are the unpleasantness that will likely follow will having you questioning whether or not it's worth it!

lol yeah, I checked and they do sell sulforaphane supplements, but given the... let's just say, undesirable, side effects of cruciferous vegetables, I wondered how many people take them. ;)

True, but why can't those same rising tides (increased corporate profits) lift the average Joe along with the CEO? The person at the top will always make a disproportionate amount of the income, but they shouldn't be the only one experiencing gains in salary.
-
I don't disagree; I just think that many employers exploited this fact when the economy crashed in 2008/2009 and used it to justify keeping salaries low, even as productivity increased. People weren't going to complain because they were just happy to have a job, but in reality they've probably contributed to the company's success more than that of the CEO.

With 4 days between games I should be chomping at the bit to watch tonight, but not exactly enthused given their early performance. I'll be watching, but definitely not staying up late to watch the whole game if they're playing like they have been lately. -
I'm sure they have influence in this regard, but there are plenty of cases where it's the hard work of the employees that has caused a rise in share value and not simply amazing things done by the CEO. The CEO deserves to get paid more because of the risk and responsibility involved in that job, but the workers often deserve a greater share than they are given. Just because a job is low-skill should not automatically mean the employee has little value to the company.

This is what you and many others choose to believe, but I believe when a law is written to exclude a form of ID that common sense (and multiple other state laws) would find valid, I sincerely doubt the intentions are as stated.
-
Come on, nfreeman... you're trying way too hard to justify this thing. It's hard enough to get young voters to care enough to participate in elections, so why would anyone be concerned about them falsifying a student ID just for the purpose of voting? And even if they can go get another ID, they shouldn't HAVE TO... they already have something that is considered sufficient to verify their identity in most other states.

Interesting stuff here (bolding below is mine): http://www.labmanage...sm#.VEfC4iLF9qM

I didn't look at every state on this list, but in PA the voter ID law was signed in March 2012 (less than 7 months prior to the last Presidential election): http://ballotpedia.o...etails_by_state And again: if the Texas law is ONLY about preventing voter fraud, then why is a student ID deemed insufficient where most other states require only that the ID has a photo? http://time.com/3093720/texas-voter-id-law-students-lawsuit/
-
The free IDs would be perfectly fine if they delayed implementation of the laws by a year to allow everyone time to obtain them. The fact that they were passed on short notice with such urgency speaks volumes as to their true intentions.
-
Agree 100%, but there are those who would have us believe it's his fault they were high in 2012. Many people (including myself) do agree with voter ID in theory and see nothing wrong with the idea of having to provide this for voting purposes. At the same time, we recognize that any voter ID law that does not make reasonable provisions for those currently lacking sufficient ID and accepts NRA cards and gun permits but not student IDs has nothing to do with preventing fraud. To claim otherwise is either disingenuous or incredibly naive.

I'm sure you realize that 1/20 is a somewhat inaccurate oversimplification of the actual odds of seeing that player's forward line or D pair, but I get your point.

Bruins' Miller out indefinitely after dislocating his shoulder on Sat. night: http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2014/10/20/bruins-miller-out-indefinitely-after-dislocating-shoulder-in-fight/ Not sure whether that happened during the fight with Deslauriers or if he just landed badly when they hit the ice.

Who do you want to be here for the future?
biodork replied to Johnny DangerFace's topic in The Aud Club
Deslauriers Girgensons Moulson Kaleta Myers I wouldn't have said Deslauriers before, but I liked his attitude in his interview the last game (after the first period, I think?). He knows his role and is happy to do that to the best of his ability. -
Or Luke DeCock.
