What's weak is our D just standing there. :wallbash: Johnson gave up a keyhole and they hit that. We keep hitting posts. -

Nothing Johnson could do there. Maybe we can answer before the final 5 minutes of regulation. -

Do you realize that if you could really freeze time, light wouldn't work, so you couldn't see a thing? -

I see a lot of bleu, blanc un rouge in the crowd, along with a lot of empty seats. -
The Sabres thought they were smart capping seasons at 16,000. But now they run ads asking people to buy those 3,000+ tickets, so they are feeling the lack of enthusiasm too. Don't be surprised if that ST cap gets lifted soon. And before you get all high and mighty on those speculators, keep in mind they kept the FNC filled during the tank. All those nights with announced attendance of 17,000+ when the building might have only 8,000 actual fans in attendance.

Mind you there is a huge gap between box office face value and STH face value. People can go to StubHub and pay $10 less than at the box office and I still cover my cost that game. But even weekend games against marquee teams (like MTL tonight/NJ tomorrow) are going for $15-20. That's unheard of. I live in NH so I only get to 3-4 games a season, so my break-even is much lower than you're envisioning. I've had my seats since 2008 and always made enough to renew until the tank. Year 1 was a small loss. Year 2 was over a thousand in the red. So far this season is looking just as bad. I don't get it. People bought tickets when it was Ville Leino and we were falling short of the 8th seed. Now we have a couple of franchise players and fans are like "meh."

I suffered through the tank, taking big losses on my season tickets because I figured the excitement would return once Eichel was here. But I am still losing $10+ a ticket because there is little demand on the secondary market. A Saturday night game for $15?? It hasn't been this bad since the Rigas era. Things better pick up of I'm going to have to give up my seats.

Any Polish speakers here? The word "piesek" (pr: PYES-sek) means "little dog." -

Nothing is stopping Sabre fans from taking advantage of the low prices and catching a game. I'd like to ask where's the excitement for this new team? -

The last few SW movies might have qualified as the worst films ever created. Mainly because George Lucas himself wrote the screenplays. Hopefully JJ Abrams told his boss to stick with what he's best at and leave the writing to the pros on this one. -

$20 on StubHub gets you a ticket. -

Leno was his last guest, wasn't he? A shot at Letterman? BTW Dave hadn't been funny in 15 years.
-
Craig Ferguson was flat out brilliant. I'd love to know what he did to piss off Letterman (Worldwide Pants produced the LLS) so bad that Dave never spent a nickel on his show? Craig just turned that lack of respect into more brilliance, like why he had a gay robot sidekick. #Assmode.

Even prices at Air Canada Centre have cratered. $52 CDN to see the Coyotes?
-
One thing is for sure, secondary market prices are still in the tank. Some games the parking passes are more expensive than game tickets! Even Leafs fans stopped caring. You can get a ticket to that game this week for $20 on StubHub.

I was going to say something similar. Great cities all have patrons. One or more wealthy families that invest in their cities. It could be for philanthropic reasons. It could be for wealth-building reasons. But the bottom line is cities need investment and no one before Terry was making the kind of serious commitment it takes to revive a region. I'm sure many of us would look around Buffalo and think "this could be a really nice place if we fixed it up." From the waterfront to beautiful old buildings, it has loads of potential. A "fixer-upper" if you will. But to really get things rolling you need someone with Terry's checkbook. You have to be willing to spend the amounts that would scare away lesser developers because failure would mean losing all you have. Terry can afford to eat a few mistakes. The side benefit is once the Pegula's prime the pump, everyone else wants in as well. Suddenly there is a pulse downtown. I don't care why Terry and Kim are doing this. I'm just glad it's happening.
