  1. Don't worry, I thought it was misleading as well as soon as I posted it.
  2. Time to put a hundred on the Sabres to win it all. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/chicago-blackhawks-the-early-favorite-for-2016-stanley-cup-162952211.html
  3. Hey, I finished 10th, 94th percentile! I got Chicago winning and every pick in the West correct, but only 3 of 7 in the East.
  4. I think Utica is a tremendous minor hockey market and I wonder if the Comets go west if the ECHL could be in their future? The E needs more Northeastern teams to ease travel costs for their recent AHL converts.
  5. How much of a carrot is playing for Roy again in Colorado? Did Grigs like him as a coach?
  6. Olbermann did a monologue about her. The point everyone seems to miss is she doesn't live in Glendale. She lives in Phoenix. So she's squawking about the lease but her taxes aren't paying for the apparently lopsided deal Glendale signed off on.
  7. Portland would be nice, although if Seattle winds up with an NHL team, Portland is the natural landing spot for their AHL affiliate. How about a Flames affiliate in Saskatoon or Regina? The truth is any AHL city that's more than a few hours by car from their parent team has a target on it.
  8. If that's Siberia, I'll sign up.
  9. True, but how long before the Canucks move that franchise west? The only reason they are even in Utica is the NHL c#ckblocked them from Seattle.
  10. This is where keeping Grigo up his rookie year is backfiring.
  11. Comets scored with 14 seconds to go but it was too little, too late. Monarchs win 2-1 and Manchester hoists the cup in Utica.
  12. Yes. In the end, I'm just there for the beer and the yelling. I like hockey and I can watch ECHL just fine. In fact I look forward to seeing the Elmira Jackals. The Rochester Americans almost never played Manchester the last 14 years. This way I get to see some Sabres prospects.
  13. The Manchester Monarchs mopped the Utica Auditorium ice with the Comets 6-2 last night to take a 3-1 series lead in the AHL finals. This is the last AHL season in NH for the Kings farm team so this is a nice going away gift for the fans, considering this team made it past the first round only once in 14 prior seasons. LA swaps their ECHL team to Manchester next season. Sadly the AHL insists on the 2-3-2 playoff format even though the two cities are just a 5 hour bus ride apart. So if Manchester wins tonight Monarchs fans won't get to see it on home ice. If it does work out that way at least I can say I was at the first Monarchs game and the last.
  14. Maybe they are fired up by media types (Tony Kornheiser on PTI for one) who declared the series over after Game 1? The Hawks have been the presumed superior team by everyone, including me.
  15. I was going to say that about Crawford too. The last two goals were on him. Goal #2 he didn't close the post off with his pad. Goal #3 he over-committed to the skater with the puck and took himself out of position for the skater you HAVE TO ASSUME is in the slot! That's Goalie 101. You don't play the puck so much as play what's coming. Goalies are always reading the play and at least have a sense where the other guys are.
  16. This may seem counterintuitive but ego is a good thing for star performers. You have to believe you can be the best.
  17. Would have been very smart if the Sabres asked the Canalside concert folks to make sure to book an 18-24 friendly act that date, as opposed to, say, a KC and the Sunshine band tribute act.
  18. The point is that when someone states an opinion that the core members don't like, you get attacked. Kinda like what just happened here. Hey, it's not much livelier in season, outside of game threads. I don't read DeLuca because he's been on my ignore list forever. There might be one or two others. Surprisingly PA/FakeGorby isn't, but I've had the urge. Thanks, but if I have agenda, please clue me in. I honestly have no idea what you're referring to...unless by agenda you mean me wanting a livelier forum here. Or maybe you mean me sticking up for Darcy when he was the fave whipping boy. (See top of reply.) I guess the whole Soviet motif-thing goes beyond just souping up user names, huh?
  19. Sorry to be so down but it's the truth. SS is pretty stagnant. New thread are a rarity. There are only a dozen really active participants, and they tend to dominate to discussion, and sometimes intimidate other posters. TBD, by comparison, is very active and the discussion covers the gamut. Here the discussion is mostly conspiracy theories about the alleged shadow management of the Sabres.
  20. Good to have another poster @SS. This board is dominated by the same dozen or so folks. Place gets stagnant.
  21. To the goalie question, we nearly blew the tank because anyone we threw in was suddenly playing with +.900 save%. So I'm not that worried about it. I also think that even an incomplete roster can challenge for a wild card slot.
  22. I expect the Sabres to actively pursue a trade or RFA player, or two. And with that I expect them to be in the running for wild card playoff spot.
