    Ralph actually made his bones in trucking and insurance. But he was nowhere near as wealthy as the Pegulas. A friend had an interesting take on why Ralph was so cheap. He said, if he were Ralph, he would take out massive loans using the Bills as collateral. That way he gets to enjoy his asset while he's alive. He said Ralph probably had big interest payments to make every year. No proof but an interesting theory.

    Too bad the ECHL Las Vegas Wranglers shut down last year. They played at Orleans Casino.

    Pretty much nailed it. I live 500 miles away. I schedule trips home on the Sabres and Bills schedules. This way I have my choice of games, guaranteed access to playoff tickets and access to the Lexus Club pregame. And yes, it's work managing tickets, but I choose to do it.

    Because I have a point. You can't argue speculators are blocking "real" fans from buying tickets when those same tickets are going for half of face value on StubHub and they still aren't buying them. Speaking of atmosphere at games, even Edmonton struck me as pretty dead too.

    What shocks me most is this team has more going for it than the middling Lindy & Darcy teams of the late 2000's, yet people came out for those teams. I really thought the Sabres were bulletproof, much like the Leafs, in fan support.

    Weird that I'm now the poster child of a--hole season ticket holders. But Nfreeman was totally correct that I was only using my experience as a measure current fan interest. (Not for sympathy) Here we are 1/3 into the season and the Sabres are running deals on unsold tickets. Occasionally the TV cameras catch a glimpse of empty seats in the corners off the 300's. There is no question fan interest in the Sabres had waned. Eichel, O'Reilly, Kane, etc. have not energized the Chet & Muffy crowd. Will things pick up after football season?

    They definitely did. That late first period penalty kill stands out to me. They couldn't even slap a puck out of the zone. As for Eichel, the grind and the game is catching up to him. Probably a good thing it's hard for him now. He has to fight through the wall.

    My only interaction with police has been at traffic stops. I'm always calm and respectful. I make sure I have license, registration and insurance cards at the ready and my hands are always visible. Nine times out of ten I get a warning. But I don't take for granted for a minute that I'm and older white man. My experience could be much different if I were young and black or hispanic.

    1/1/2008 was a Tuesday. I remember driving from NH that morning after partying on NYE. 7 hour drive. Got there just in time for puck drop.
