  1. Beer isn't free. You bet I bought raffle tickets. About 135 in the house now. Nice event all the Sabres alums making themselves available.
  2. You were supposed to get a $10 ticket. They aren't watching the door that close but anyone with a ticket got a Road Show lanyard. Place is filling up. They are raffling a bunch of Sabres autographed gear including an Eichel jersey. I'd say we are over 100 in attendance, mostly wearing Sabres gear
  3. Rene Robert here now. Brian Dunleavy arrives. Says Rob Ray likes to make the late grand entrance. Dang, ordered food before I realized they had a free wing and beef on weck buffet. Ray & May arrive.
  4. Here's my first live report: Attendance is sparse. Probably due to the snow earlier. Danny Gare only celeb here so far, making the rounds. FYI no one checking tickets.
  5. Swing a deal where Jamie gets traded but resigns here next season.
  6. They're bringing a big banner that says "We love Bruins fans!" (ducks)
  7. The current config of SS is fine except for the 40 post length on pages. 20 like on TBD works better for me. I love that my phone remembers the last post I read. I wish my computer experience was similar. Of those two I prefer xenforo.
  8. Right now a wild card spot should take 95 points to achieve. (Based on point/game pace by DET, BOS and PIT.) The Sabres have to earn 1.48 pts/game in the final 31 games, or a record of 20-4-6.
  9. Your thread title gave me a heart attack for a second.
  10. https://sabres.formstack.com/forms/tour_stop15 To be held at The Harp on Causeway St. Directly across from the TD Garden. This is also home to the Boston Bills Backer chapter. Apparently some tickets remain. I'll be coming down from NH to attend. Anyone else?
  11. I think the ideas was to highlight what is in the immediate FNC area. Grant it there could have been some mention of Buffalo Iron Works, Lagerhaus 95 and Helium comedy club, all just around the corner in the Cobblestone district. But Canalside and Harborcenter are what you see going in and coming out of the FNC. Back in 2003 I attended the NCAA Frozen Four at what was then HSBC Arena. (The one where Thomas Vanek wowed everyone.) I walked out of the building with a number of out of town fans who looked around and had no idea where to get a bite or a drink. All you could see in every direction was desolation. An empty waterfront, and abandoned Aud and a boarded-up Donavan State Office building full of asbestos. If you are someone who swore off going to Buffalo ten years ago, THAT is your lingering memory of the place! So I'm willing to forgive whoever is responsible for trying to lure some more out-of-towners back to the foot of Washington St. The place was a hellscape not that long ago.
  12. I sincerely believe all Bills players should learn to ice skate. There are muscles below the knees that only skating can work. Anyone who tried to skate the first time knows what I speak of, that incredible painful burning deep inside your calf muscles. As a goalkeeper, who has to make very tight skating moves in small spaces, my ankles are incredibly developed from skating. So much so that I am impervious to rolling my ankles. Not bragging. Just stating a fact. I have to believe skating would reduce ankle injuries in football players. The Academy of Hockey would be an ideal place for an offseason skating clinic.
  13. Is it courtship or informing out of town fans that there is now more to do and options to stay when visiting? There have always been out of town fans at Buffalo games.
  14. That's an odd achievement. I'd have thought it happened long ago.
  15. How about creating a special PA sub-forum sandbox where folks and discuss conspiracies all they want, and leave SabresSpace to be, you know, actual talk about Sabres hockey? Kind of like PPP on Two Bills Drive. That way if you want to avoid this sort of nonsense you can. There has to be more than two dozen Sabres fans online in all of the internet, but that's about the total number of active posters here. GROUPTHINK ALERT!! :w00t:
  16. If you are inclined to believe in conspiracies, monsters, aliens, the Illuminati, Bigfoot, mind control, yadda, tadda, yadda, then yes, there's always something to it...because you want to believe it. In reality it's ponderous and "doesn't add anything to the conversation" as you like to say. Ginning up crackpot theories is not fun to me.
  17. Of course not, but I assumed there are more than 19,000 Sabres fans in WNY and So.Ontario.
  18. So now that the invite is made, what do you propose? Calling the Hamilton paper and rescinding it? Telling Leafs fans to stay home? How about firing the Sabres employee that made the offending quote?
  19. Not the fans fault. But if certain fans are going to crusade over opposing fans in our building but yet not attend games themselves, it smacks of something...what's the word...
  20. Okay, so what about defending your house from opposing fans? Or is the building supposed to be empty but for Sabres fans? Should there be a loyalty oath recited at the security checkpoint?
  21. I was. Quite eloquently, I might add. So why aren't Sabres fans from wherever filling the building already?
  22. I'm done with this merry-go-round anyway. I think SDS makes a valid point about how SS has become the private chat room for a dozen or so posters.
  23. Wrapping a turd in a flour tortilla doesn't make it more edible. Wrapping my logic around your argument doesn't magically make it valid.
  24. Maybe Terry & Kim can sell the Sabres to Donald Trump who can then build a wall around the FNC and make Leafs fans pay for it?
  25. It's absurd when you consider the local fans are not filling the arena. If it weren't for out of town fans there would be under 10K most nights. So now it's not enough for our owner to keep the team here and spend freely on players and coaches, and invest in development that is jump starting our long-moribund downtown. Now he's expected to eat half the seats at the FNC and hiss at out of town fans to satisfy some ideological purity a small core of extremists believe should exist. Take a step back and look at yourselves.
