  1. I do think GMTM will give him the old car dealer spiel that the Sabres offer is only on the table for a short time. Too many decisions have to be made to wait on Vesey. Decide by mid-July or the Sabres move on.
  2. Any team wanting Vesey will pay that. The difference will be the opportunity offered. Vesey is being told he will be a top 6 player for the Sabres if he signs. He can play with his bud Jack and the team is sparing no expense to build a championship contender. Is Buffalo not exciting enough? Maybe, but serious pro athletes don't have time to worry about what clubs there are to hang in. And if you do have a couple days and want to party, hire a charter and fly an hour to NYC or Boston or wherever.
  3. Hoping for a home game the weekend of Oct 28-30. If it's the Bruins that would be amazing.
  4. Why not give Vesey the deluxe Buffalo sales job? You couldn't do that until you had his rights. There's a Canalside concert the night before the draft. (Hope he likes Public Enemy.) He gets to tour the facilities, meet some teammates besides Eichel, and best of all he gets to meet Kim & Terry, one of the most committed owners in the league.
  5. https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/bruins/2016/06/20/jimmy-vesey-rights-acquired-sabres/2y8jx6VPbuA2hY3473priL/story.html' Boston Globe thinks Sabres traded a 2nd and 4th for Vesey.
  6. I found a crapload moments after I posted that. But seriously I googled "Vesey trade" and found nothing at first.
  7. http://www.foxborosportscenter.com/page/show/1194493-pro-league It's like beer league hockey for great players. I might have to take a ride down and check it out.
  8. Back in the late 90's the mayor of Manchester NH wanted to build a 10K arena. Despite the usual opposition it was built at a cost of $68MM, paid for mostly through bonds and hotel taxes. It's home to the former AHL, now ECHL Manchester Monarchs, as well as numerous other sports, concerts and events. It's become a centerpiece of the city, influencing the decision to build a baseball stadium in 2005 that attracted AA Eastern League ball. In fact it's been so successful it's managed to pay off most of the bonds on time, though the last few years attendance for hockey has fallen off. This is one instance where an arena project proved to be mostly a good thing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verizon_Wireless_Arena
  9. That's actually pretty good. The ECHL team was the Wranglers. I guess they are dumping that name.
  10. They might be in the Pegula's bridge foursome.
  11. Booked a weekend in Buffalo Sept. 23-26. Bills/Cards Sunday. UB/Army Saturday. The Proclaimers @ Town Ballroom Friday. What are the odds the Sabres will play a home preseason game that weekend?
  12. True, but's a lot less than the $149 you pay for NHL.TV. Most people have either cable to satellite TV.
  13. I was about to say the same thing. After beer league hockey last night, the boys and I watched SJ/NSH on my tablet is using the NBC Sports app. Every playoff game is available for free.
  14. The Sabres plan on charging as much as $30 for a lower bowl seat, $20 for an upper seat, for day one of the NHL Draft. (Day two is free.) I believe this was always a free event in the past. How do you feel about the Sabres charging for it?
  15. We sh#t the bed twice and end up #2 both times. Toronto tanks with even worse odds and nails #1. WTF.
  16. I thought that time out he called, allowing Toews to rest up and keep playing, was going to bite him in his fat azz.
