  1. Don't worry. They don't start playing until they are down two.
  2. Hard to not think effort plays a part when the Sabres stand still as much as they do.
  3. Ay yi yi, can they find anyone better than Gorges turning the puck over?
  4. It certainly looks like an effort problem to me. Our guys consistently get beat to pucks, except for the brief few moments in the game we turned on the jets. We also can't control a puck. Did you notice how aggressive the Canes were closing on the puck carrier? That would normally be a suicide move, the puck carrier would find the guys left open. But nobody on Carolina seemed to be worried we could do that.
  5. 2014: Sabres were 6th in SO wins, 8-5. (.615) 2015: Sabres drop to 25th with a record of 2-7. (.222) 2016: Sabres currently 21st at 1-5. (.167)
  6. Turns out that might have killed him. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/alan-thicke-cause-of-death_us_585bd03be4b0eb5864853ede Aortic tear he might have sustained at hockey that ruptured 3 hours later. He said he was feeling chest pains after playing.
  7. Not every game, but you know how people feel when we do have one? Let's say the dread is justified. He's made some nice saves but I don't think he's consistent. In fact I think he often overplays the puck, over-pursuing the play and putting himself out of position for a rebound. But whether he's good or not, can you build a team around a goalie that is an automatic shootout win for the other team? He's been that bad. (And so was Nillsen his last shootout.)
  8. That's a bit like saying a pilot is pretty good except for the landings. I think our parade of tank goalies were better overall. At least they were more effective than a garbage can in goal during shootouts.
  9. The performance of our goalies in shootouts is alarming and something that should reflect badly on Tim Murray. Our goaltending during the tank years was far better.
  10. Be sure to skate the canal. I think they have rentals skates available. They also have a curling.
  11. Excited to be in town. Having dinner @ DiTondo's. Ready for some hockey.
  12. The kid is a wizard at using lateral momentum to score. How many times do you see him drifting across the high slot when he shoots? That puck looks like it's heading wide when it leaves his stick but his momentum sideways moves it toward the net.
  13. Schopp & Bulldog? Easily. I believe they could say that and worse. Well, Schopp says the dumb stuff and Bulldog responds. But breakaways and shootouts are still a concern.
  14. Only listening on radio. How bad was Lehner on the breakaway? How can you be a #1 if you can't stop a breakaway or shootout?
  15. Excellent point. Vogl points out the two or three studs we missed out on, but that's the point; two or three players in an entire 30 team draft. So other GMs are whiffing too. What you want to know is if there is one organization that consistently finds more of those players. If there isn't one, then Vogl's argument is moot.
  16. They have Pure Hockey in Buffalo now. The really impressive store is Hockey Monkey. They just opened one in NH. As large as a Wal-Mart, all hockey, including a massive goalie section.
  17. And there's the difference between the Caps penalty kill and ours. They harass the puck holder and we wave our sticks at them.
  18. Tickets on sale now for $15!! A freakin' Friday night game against a marquee team.
  19. DERP! Trademark office rejects Vegas Golden Knights name and logo
  20. How about "Five more than you'll ever score, assclown." Good for you, John.
