  1. Tried out 727 Elmwood (the place where Blue Monk used to be). Meh. Taplist had a lot of local stuff, but wasn't as extensive or diverse, and the atmosphere was just dead. Granted it was a Tuesday night, but I had been at Acropolis across the street just before and that place was hopping. Still new, though. I probably wouldn't go at all if it wasn't so close to me, but I'll give it a try again when it gets more on its feet.
  2. When Terry first bought the Sabres he called in to the Hobby without telling Schopp who he was, he just said he was "Terry". Schopp eventually hung up on him because he was up against the end of the show. It was all very amicable, just funny in hindsight. Actually found it! http://media.wgr550.com/a/97893687/10-11-pegula-calls-the-hobby.htm Also, I forgot, but it was actually the very last show of "The Hobby", so Mike cut out a little early to do goodbyes and thank yous. http://www.buffalonews.com/city-region/wgr-host-rushes-terry-off-the-air-20141011
  3. This is cool. I don't remember him being on in a long time, maybe right when they bought the Bills? It'll be interesting. Anyone remember when Schopp hung up on Terry when he called into "The Hobby"? Always funny.
  4. Tough part is we're maxed out on the RHD man. Plus we'll have to move some salary probably.
  5. Its not that Jeremy Grover said it, its that Poile said it/: http://www.thegamenashville.com/audio/ In there is an interview with the Nashville GM. At about 10:30 he talks about the trade.
  6. I honestly don't know, saw it on twitter, I'll see if I can locate it again. Seems to just be the rules.
  7. According to Murray the Sabres can't sign Vesey until July 1 at the earliest, which I was unaware of. They have time to work this, but I think Murray will proceed as if he's not getting Vesey and still try to grab another winger somehow.
  8. ^^^ Here: http://www.todaysslapshot.com/from-the-ice/dreger-speculation-sabres-going-absolutely-stamkos/ I know this is stupid and probably won't happen and people here don't want it and whatever, but for half a second indulge this thought: Stamkos-O'Reilly-Kane Vesey-Eichel-Rienhart Foligno - Girgensons - Ennis Gionta - Larsson - Moulson Risto - Shattnkirk Gorges - Bogo Franson - McCabe Lehner That is a lineup that could, theoretically but legitimately, happen for the Sabres this year. If that's not a playoff team I don't know WTF is.
  9. He kinda looks like Sam Reinheardtdt
  10. I've been saying Veh-see but apparently its Vee-see (or VC). At least thats how the WGR guys were saying it today.
  11. After an evening of mulling it over, here's where I end up on this. Its no guarantee he signs here. If it was, Murray wouldn't have spent the pick. I also highly doubt he would have spent the pick if he knew that Vesey was going to UFA no matter what. He's smart and connected, I trust him on this stuff. Even if he doesn't sign before UFA, you give yourself an extra 2 months-ish to convince him its the right move. He gets to meet the Pegulas, and Dan Bylsma, and see the facilities. He can come to development camp (obviously he might not, but he CAN anyways). He can see the city. Eichel doesn't have to give him a nudge and a wink everytime he mentions playing here. Buffalo's 3rd round picks from 2005-2011 (Giving a 5 year leeway to avoid speculative projections): 2005 - Marc-Andre Gragnani - D -74 GP 2007 - Corey Tropp - RW - 148 GP 2008 - Corey Fienhage - D - 0 GP 2009 - Brayden McNabb - D - 114 GP 2010 - Jerome Gauthier-Leduc - D - 0 GP 2010 - Kevin Sundher - C - 0 GP 2010 - Matt Mackenzie - D - 0GP 2011 - Daniel Catenacci - C - 0GP There is no one on that list I wouldn't trade straight up for Vesey at the height of their value. McNabb comes the closest. Of course, Vesey himself was a 3rd round pick, but I'm just giving context. If it works, its a coup, if not then I won't lose any sleep over it. This is absolutely the type of risk you buy yourself when you accumulate the amount of picks the Sabres have over the last 5 or so years.
  12. Less of a trade idea, more of a signing idea, Any interest in Patrick Wiercioch? http://www.tsn.ca/talent/sens-sound-ready-to-move-on-from-wiercioch-1.511431 I don't know much about him. OTT GM seems to think the qualifying offer would be about 2.7. He's a lefty D. Anyone have #opinions?
  13. ...dammit. haha. If thats actually what they're going for then thats cool, I just don't think this show has that sort of subtlety to it.
  14. I...didn't really care for that episode. I'll give credit to the cinematography and directing; that battle scene did a very good job showing how a battle could have gone in that time. Except for the fact that both of the commanders were freaking idiots. WTF is John Snow doing? I understand running after your brother. But then charging the line? By yourself? Abandoning the entire gameplan just because Ramsey did EXACTLY WHAT SANSA FREAKING TOLD YOU HE WOULD DO?!?! He killed his men. Its his fault they lost that many. If he had held his ground they could have held off Ramsey for a good while. I know he didn't know the Vale troops were coming, but he still got about 1000 men killed from being uncharacteristically rash. They you have Ramsey who had 6000 troops at his disposal but didn't feel like putting 50 of them out as pickets/scouts and missed AN ENTIRE ARMY coming in. I'll accept the fact that he's hotheaded and egotistical, but clearly he has a mind for battle planning as that episode showed. Still, not nearly as egregious as Snow's stupidity. It was also all very predictable, which is fine in and of itself, but I really think they did a disservice to John's character by making him go all berserker mode just to fit the story line. I have other issues, but whatever. Hardhome was way better.
  15. Happy Father's Day to all you dads out there. My dad could beat you all up.
  16. It would be awesome if they played this at Canalside or something.
  17. Thats what I've gleaned, but I keep hearing conflicting reports. Say what you want about the WGR guys, but I feel like one of them would have come to that conclusion at some point and mentioned it.
  18. Not happy with his role and using this to push up his numbers for the RFA deal would be my bet. If he's still on this team by July 1st I'd be surprised. Not that I want it, he's just such an obvious piece to go.
  19. Yeah, same. Well I haven't seen it reported, but I don't think it means anything. But any contact with those two can't hurt.
  20. Just throwin' this out there: https://twitter.com/Buccigross/status/743098904397352961
  21. Got something to back that up? Not being critical, its just something I hadn't heard about him. His advanced stats look decent to me, but I'm an untrained eye.
  22. March and April he was a hot name, but like I said, since the new GM its been quiet. The old regime didn't like him much (which I suppose could extend to GMTM), but no word from the new guy yet. http://mynhltraderumors.com/nhl-rumors-ottawa-senators-edition-mike-hoffman/2016/04/13/ http://www.allaboutthejersey.com/2016/5/4/11518064/mike-hoffman-would-be-an-ideal-trade-target-for-the-devils Thats a guy I consider sending my #8 for. He's young, not overly expensive, and a great fit. 30 goals with those Senators teams are no joke, with Eichhart he could get 35 or 40. Kinda sounds like Boucher likes him, though, so he might be off the market: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/mike-hoffman-s-history-with-boucher-a--bonus--in-contract-talks-184314022.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Yeah, he's top of my list if he's available.
  23. Haven't heard many rumors about him since the new GM took over in Ottawa, but what do you guys think about Mike Hoffman? He's an RFA, and if they can't get a deal done they could be looking to trade him. Thats a guy I'd love on Eichels wing. Not sure if he's been brought up on here before.
  24. Lasalle park, on the railing right between the dog park and the pump house. We were out there for a BBQ and took a wander over to the water when we were done. It was a gorgeous night.
